Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

Zelda tried to be stoic, but really it wasn’t her family’s strong point, but all of this was a serious situation with needed her to be such a way. Zelda had her time to be emotional on her own time. Right now she was simply trying to figure out how to help this wolfess and show that she wasn’t all bad. Zelda was starting to piece together how her life had went best she could, what made her the way she was. If being an assassin, killing others, was all she knew, all she was brought up to be around, it made perfect sense that she would be this way. Zelda knew all to well though by her father’s experiences that one helping hand can change a wolf. He only knew war, fighting and suffering until the traveler came from another land and started teaching him the common tongue, of Moladion at least, eventually making her grandfather leave his homeland and eventually come here… HIs whole life changed, the way he could think, act and work. He was free to follow his own path and Zelda hoped she would be that traveling wolf to Arace, show her that there was more out there than what she had been doing.

As the subject changed though to Arace’s punishment she watched as the wolfess almost seemed to light up seeing how she was acting. She began suddenly launching into fairness and what it meant, if life had always been fair to Zelda. It was cold and poking and she was trying to make Zelda admit that unfairness was all around them. That was different from what Zelda had asked though entirely. ”Knowing what it feels like to be in pain, is exactly why I try to be kind to others.” Zelda started offering that cryptic response to everything Arace said regarding fairness. But, you didn’t answer my question. I asked if you were given a trial and if you were given a chance to defend yourself. Life is unfair, but wolves can choose to be either. So tell me, where those wolves choosing to be fair?” Zelda didn’t tell her how life had hurt her, anyone who asked the right questions would know that Hyrule left. Zelda didn’t begrudge him too much, not anymore. She missed him but that wound was healing with each step she took on her own. With each matter faced she learned she didn’t need him as much as she thought she had. Zelda teased her own answer in there, but it was slightly unintentional. She more wanted the direct answer from Arace regarding how Pine had treated her then.

However, she then went on to say she wasn’t ungrateful for Zelda trying, but they simply didn’t have the same train of thought. That was for certain. She could never kill a wolf just because someone else wanted them dead. A wolf who was causing chaos and overall were harming and wouldn’t change their ways no matter what… that was different. Her ears tipped back slightly though before finally she regained her more serious disposition again. ”We aren’t, but no wolves truly think the same, do they?” Zelda says then offering a smile though she could see that Arace’s wounds were hurting her. ”Do you need more herbs for the pain?” Zelda offered her then concern touching her features as she looked around the den for any stashes her mother might have left for her to use soon spotting a small squirrels hide tucked at the side of the den. Though she made no move to get it yet.

Her words were a bit cold regarding Starfall, but her face said a different story. Arace didn’t seem ungrateful for what help they had both had given her, what Zelda was trying to do for Starfall, and would try to do for her if she would stay. She let that go simply smiling at her words that it was more sorcery than anything, but hopefully it would still work out for the best. Really Zelda wanted to help her, but Arace had to want to as well. Zelda could not force her into this new life, but she could offer her the chance too. Though there were things she wanted to see Arace do as well.

Arace didn’t seem to be against her offer though. That she would basically be doing everything she used to do, only she wouldn’t kill. Not without reason, or direction, it would not be indiscriminate anymore if she was sent out to… well… end someone, though Zelda felt if she had to do that she would very likely be the one to do it herself. A terrifying prospect. She wanted to spare her wolves though from having to do such a soul wrenching thing, she would tear herself apart before allowing her members to do the same. Killing someone… it changed you, as clearly as it changed Arace. It was not something someone should do without thought or concern. Something that many wolves didn’t seem to understand. Though Zelda could tell her offers strings per say were not as well received as the idea itself. The wolfess adorned a look of horror and she slightly shrieked the word appologize back to Zelda which left her only to only hold her serious look.

She could see there was a bit of an internal struggle for a moment. Though perhaps it came quickly, that she sighed and replied, something that surprised Zelda though a pleased expression crossed her face instead. Perhaps it wouldn’t be genuine, but the idea that she had to try at all and would do so, spoke volumes to the wolfess that she was going to slightly have some form of humility with everything. Perhaps it would also put Tithe’s mind a bit more to rest as well… Zelda wasn’t sure, but she could only hope. She could see she was annoyed with the thought, but hopefully it would go over well in the long run. It was a little test of faith to see if she could try to change, it was a start.

She tried to assuage the wolfess though in regards to her beauty. Perhaps in time she will further understand, and perhaps even experience, what Zelda meant. She was placing her first paw down on the path to see it this way. In time, Zelda hoped she would experience it for herself, see that her looks were nothing in the grand scheme of what she could make of her heart and soul. Time would tell and it seemed with that their conversation was coming to an end. Somehow, things were turning out better than Zelda had hoped they would.

”We do. You will start training come spring, when the pups of this year become yearlings and likely will seek to learn skills that interest them. You might be surprised, by how naturally gifted some might be, or annoyed at the lack of skill. However, some say it’s more fun when you actually have something to teach rather than mold the already gifted, no?” She said with a grin. Her tail waved lightly.

”Thanks for talking with me, Arace. I will leave you to your rest after I get the water I promised to you. Sure you need it after our long conversation.” Zelda said her soft look returning, she hoped and prayed that Arace had been honest with her, part of her felt she was, the better part, but the part that had been hurt by the past did allow her to be a bit more wary that she might not be. For the time though Zelda was going to put her faith in Arace and see if she could change her life for the better.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
