Cheers Joe/Cass
Yes we were told that, but as the years went by it was as cass said,"fall out the stick man"night off, some men were so smart, getting the stick on a regular basis, they used to do the guard duty of other for DM20,then get the stick and right to the bar
One memorable incident concerned ,a case call Dave Costain,he was a 3 year man(extended his N.S by 1 year for extra pay
And Lt.L Stacy, this officer did not like Coastain one bit
His favourite gripe about the turn out being"idle ends"these were loose bits of cotton that hung from shirts kf,BD`s or where ever..he would always find some
Cotain had had enough of Stacy, and STacy was waiting to nail Coastain!
Sure enough onReg qtr guard inspection,he inspects Costain,to find an idle end☻,so Mr. Stacy pull this idle thread of cotton...and it kept coming, afte a minuet or two Mr Stacy had a decko how or where the cotton was coming from..Costain had put a bobbin of his cotton in shis shirt pocket...specially for Mr.Stacy,Dave Costain Bn. nutter you livened up our night
Vince
