He has to admit that Halcyon was quite the surprise to him initially; though, he supposes it makes sense. After all, a woman like Aster would come to need somebody level headed and sturdy to ensure she did not fall apart or explode like a storm. He wonders if that was what had lead to the eventual disintergration of he and Caligula; they were too in sync, too willing to accept one another's flaws and so, those flaws continued to fester long beyond the point in which it was unhealthy. He finds himself in awe of Halcyon but for a moment if only because the man is everything Tesseract ought to have been and yet, he had never been able to be. Desire, it seems, was seldom the reality of things. Yet, what does he know? Perhaps one day he will have answers but for now, he is thankful that somebody has come to pull him away from those questions.
He nods in thought as Halcyon mentions his fleeting moments of unwellness and instantly, his mind is at work to ensure he can effectively hide such a truth from those outside the pack; honesty, he knows, is often the fast lane to death or failure. And so, he is subtle in his efforts to move their path further inland and away from the borders - they are far too close to enemies, after all, to ever allow another to see Halcyon in anything other than optimal health. He even finds himself slowing somewhat, feigning a greater ache in his limb.
When Halcyon questions him, he pauses for a moment in both thought and stride, almost taken aback by such a question. Then, he allows a small grin to take root.
