PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Making love to a m e m o r y

"If Love himself weep, shall not lovers weep,
learning from what sad cause he pours his tears?
Love hears his ladies crying their distress,
showing forth bitter sorrow through their eyes
because villainous Death has worked its cruel
destructive art upon a gentle heart,
and laid waste all that earth can find to praise
in a gracious lady, save her chastity."

Macabre shifts her weight uneasily across her fore and hind legs. She'd only been standing for a matter of minutes since Orkaan stumbled upon her, but they were already beginning to swell again. While the chestnut mare didn't mind so much being pregnant, there were definitely a few side effects she would not miss. Macabre is happy to hang in the background of this conversation as Orkaan and Jetta become acquainted, but she doesn't move from Orkaan's side to stand along Jetta. It seemed a little awkward to do so at this point, and honestly, there was a part of Macabre that wanted Jetta to know that she was upset with her.

The petite mare had never been one to be involved in any sort of dramatic tensions with friends or otherwise, even if the drama from stallions seemed to follow her wherever she went. But Macabre couldn't help but feel slighted by her closest friend, and the timing of it all couldn't be worse. Macabre hung around and did what she could during Jetta's long recluse period after her mother's death, and she never faulted Jetta for their long lapse in communication. Both were now pregnant, and for such a long time, Macabre was thrilled at the idea of raising her child alongside her best friend. She didn't want to let politics get in the way of that, but she couldn't forget what happened, either. Jetta chose not to support her bid for elected position here. She only granted it to her when there was no one else to pick from. It hurt Macabre's feelings, and made her feel like her friend thought she was weak, and not capable of doing the job.

Nevertheless, Macabre went on being supportive. She knew Jetta would make a good prime minister. And no matter how she felt about her consolation prize of codebreaker, she wasn't about to face Jetta about her feelings in front of a visitor. Orkaan was intriguing to Macabre, now that the fear she had for him had mostly subsided. She liked that he had a connection to the Peak. He seemed like the determined type, not unlike Vodnik, and upon first impression, she assumed he was likely a good band stallion. She felt a flutter in her chest when he told her he was from the Inlet, a terrain Macabre once called home.

Macabre felt a sudden heat rise to her cheeks when Jetta alluded to Macabre's own tales, and she tried her best not to look too embarrassed about it. The mare flicked her blonde tail quickly over her haunches and smiled nervously, her marbeled eyes never meeting Jetta's as she told her own short story. "I've lived on these islands a long time, though I wasn't born here. It was Jetta's own mother who convinced me to seek out the Peak. I couldn't be more grateful that she did. Coming here changed my life." She said sheepishly, choosing to skip over the dramatic stumbles that transpired along the way. "I did, for some time, live in the Inlet on Tinuvel." She mentions, her nervous eyes falling onto the stallion briefly as she speaks. "I've always thought the Inlet is the most beautiful terrain among all the islands."

"Hear then how Love paid homeage to this lady;
I saw him weeping there in human form,
observing the stilled image of her grace;
and more than once he raised his eyes toward Heaven,
where that sweet soul already had its home,
which once, on earth, had worn enchanting flesh."
