What in the name of the Almighty was going on? All I knew was I awoke from a deep slumber with my pups nestled close and a slamming heartbeat. Urgency burned through me and I scrambled upright, halfway kicking my kids out of the way. Their yelps made me feel terrible as I had to pause for a moment and nudge them back into a bundle and sooth their stress. I knew instinctively that it was my imprint calling for me - his howl rang in my ears despite the fact I am halfway convinced it was a ghost cry. Dreams did that - distorted reality. But my children came first, their needs distracting me enough to calm them before I edge out of the den once they have settled. Halcyon was sleeping, his breathing someone labored, and I felt sorrow burrow in me before I shove it away and take off into the night.. towards that bond.
Is it bad that I haven't given much thought to Orb as of late? I felt.. well, kinda of bad. Granted, I had a LOT going on. You know, a mate who was sick, then got better, and now is on his deathbed again. (I MIGHT be over exaggerating that last bit!). Not to mention the tension since Elohim's last visit and my continued anxiety over it and his loyalties. Then having pups and my world shifting to their needs. It wasn't like I had much time to seek him out and give him the mental help he needed. If I could get him to stay then I would make him see Visery's... surely my brother-in-law could fix him right up. Right?
I find him collapsed in a heap in the middle of the damn fields as if he is dead and I panic, running towards him and shoving my large nose into his neck and shoving. Hard. Not sure how that will help but I don't know, I panicked! Then I bark loud and sharp right into his ear. "DIESEL!" I snap, because I don't know his real name, or maybe not sure what name is actually what. He was a bit mad, you know. "You get up right this instance!" I take a paw and stamp it right next to his muzzle and bark again, sure that if I screamed at him and yelled into his ear he would wake up. I was pretty demanding ... he had to listen!
...and lay waste to the earth.
