He had learned early on to walk on egg shells around his mother. She looked at him with such anger in her eyes and though he didn't get it, he adapted quickly. He could tell she was weak at first and he wanted to comfort and help her but she didn't seem to want it so he learned to stay out of the way instead. When she was awake and watching, he was quiet, almost morose and kept to himself. When she would fall asleep, he would flip a switch and suddenly become an exuberant young puppy with life in his eyes, pouncing on Prometheus and tugging gently at Corona's ears. He wouldn't let the awkward situation with his mother get him down. He refused to. He would just respect her space and try not to make her life any harder. He wished sometimes that she would be as happy to see him as she was when that other female came with her pups. They smelled funny but that was probably because they weren't family. He learned soon enough though that they were just as fun to play with though and they tasted about the same if you got an ear or leg in your mouth.
He would play just as hard as the rest of the puppies unless he caught his mother looking. Then his whole demeanor would change. He would avert his gaze and move off to another corner of the den away from the others, avoiding all attention until she went somewhere else. This was his coping mechanism. On this particular day, he woke up feeling restless and it didn't take him long to figure out he was feeding off of his brother, who seemed to want to explore outside of the den. Their mother had specifically told them to stay put and most of the time, they did just that but Saros could understand his brother's reluctance to be inside on such a pretty day. The sunshine was bright coming into the den and he walked over to where Prometheus stood, nudging his brother's shoulder lightly as he offered him a knowing look. He wasn't even going to consider going near his mother, let alone trying to wake her so he found Corona's gaze and held it for a moment, sure that she would understand that he wants her to be quiet if she's going to be a part of this, whether she comes or not is up to her.
He wasn't demanding or anything like that; his eyes held more of a request that he hoped his sister would be understanding enough to consider. He did everything he could to protect her already and make sure she could take care of herself. Family was already a big thing to him. He cared about his siblings and even his mom and he would do anything for them, even at such a young age. He stood his ground as Prometheus moved out into the sunlight. His head tilted, taking in his brother's reaction and smiling as he saw the wonder in his gaze. When Prometheus turned to invite them out with him, he nodded in acknowledgement before turning to ask Corona with his gaze if she wanted to join them as well. Once he got a reaction, he would trot out confidently to stand at Prometheus' side, his tail wagging side to side as he sniffed the air and gazed at his brother patiently. "So...what now?"
