Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Just Your Everyday Guardian Angel
trying to Save the World

He hadn’t had a lot of experience other than training. Certainly nothing like what his grandfather described, certainly nothing like his father either. Their grandfather after all came to Moladion at what was now Teza’s age, he couldn’t picture leaving his home into the unknown like his grandfather had, but he couldn’t imagine a life like what he had before coming to Moladion either. His father was probably more like him in that he didn’t have to fight any wolves until a challenge came calling him to battle. Teza wasn’t the Guardian, but he knew the time would come when he would have to protect his lands from wolves who would want to disturb the peace of the forest. He still wanted to become one of Zelda’s champions too, and he hoped by training Citlalli this would be one step in the right direction to doing that as well.

She commented on his name being easier, most people agreed. It was some weird tradition that they never actually call each other by their full names it felt like. His grandfather was rarely called Coszcotl after all, and his father Amoxtli. Even his brother, Tepiltzin, had his name shortened to Tepi most days. It was just easier for most wolves to shorten the strange ‘exotic’ names down, not that any of them minded. Still she seemed excited at the prospect that he also spoke latin. ”Yeah, mother insisted because she’s an angel. Though I prefer Nahuatl myself, I know how to speak it pretty well. It’s, well I am not sure if I would call it fun, but useful. It’s probably the second most common language on Moladion now.” He informed her giving a bit of a sheepish smile. Though admittedly he never really used it with anyone but Tepi or his Mother. He never met the other side of his family. He knew his Mother’s mom passed on, and she didn’t seem to have any will to go to Diveen, though apparently, a lot of the other side of his family was still there. Someday maybe he would go see for himself, right now though he tried to keep his focus upon the girl.

She seemed to be confident, and already knew that her build would get her to where she wanted to go. It was good to be confident, it was something their family tended to lack in themselves, but still they worked harder because of it he felt. He wanted to prove to everyone every day that he could be a good fighter too, that he could make up for getting in Tithe’s way when he encountered the golden bear two years ago, giving him the scars on his shoulder and chest that were currently mostly covered by his fur. She said not to discount her mother though, he believed it. ”I think she was part of the last bear hunt, wasn’t she?” Teza asked, surely not discounting her if that was the case. Hunters, after all, were basically warriors that focused on take down of prey creatures after all rather than other wolves, in some ways they were more well rounded.

However he started to lead the way. She explained that her family was well, that their mother was teaching them to climb trees and her sisters were training. ”Sounds like a good time.” He replies with a smile. He was happy for them all. It wasn’t a long walk to where he liked to train by his brush pile, however she asked then how his family was doing and he grinned, so pleased with his family. ”They have been busy, I got two new little sisters this spring!”Teza said excitedly, happy himself that he had new little siblings to help take care of. ”They are apparently a lot easier than Tepi and I were, but we were near exact twins, and Tepi got into everything.” He said adding a little chuckle, his tail zipping through the air cheerfully.

However the clearing soon was coming into sight, along with his rather sizable pile of logs and brush. ”Ah! We are here.” He said looking up at his pile of brush, his own almost alchemy like formula to make himself special. ”This is where I drag all the brush and sticks I can to build up my strength. It’s… my own personal challenge I guess you don’t need to do it, but we will meet here for your lessons from now on” He informed her, his mismatched green and blue eyes setting on her then.

”First things I am going to teach you will be boring. You will learn a lot about stance, and small footwork movements. We are big, and strong, we can’t really go zipping all over the place, and its good to conserve your energy for long fights.” He began to lower himself, widening his stance, lowering his head, his ears were pinning themselves back against his head in natural reaction. ”You want a lower, wide stance, so you can guard your throat, and can’t be displaced as easily. Unlike hunting, you won’t be running around after something.” He told her waiting for her own reply and for her to attempt to take the stance as well before continuing.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
