aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Only You Are the Life Among the Dead

_________________________________________________________________________

Snow white paws carried the femme through the trees as she made her way back home. Life back in Dierne Hrof had the feeling of home again, despite having a new alpha. Khaleesi had spent some time with Aindreas, and she was happy that he was the one that took over after his father had left. If it had been another varg, one not within the family, it would have just felt wrong. But with Aindreas, it still felt like home. And now that everyone had adjusted to life under Aindreas and after all the changes within the lands, the alpha began assigning out tasks. It seemed that everything was going back to normal, despite all the changes that had occurred. The alpha had asked for wolves to head to the different packs to see what changes had gone on in places other than their home. In the past, Khaleesi had traveled with another varg to one of the old packs, but she decided this time to go to a pack that she had never been to before, taking advantage of the chance to explore a new land. She volunteered to go to Caidir Olc, a pack that had had a unique reputation before. It was known to house wolves that had some more…violent tendencies than most, and she was curious what the wolves that actually lived there were like. She had been surprised to find that vampires now lived there, not even realizing that wolves like that existed. But, there were all different sorts of wolves in Blossom now that the magic had returned to the lands, and her thoughts dwelled on this as she took a few days to make the journey back home.

Khaleesi had also been thinking about what Aindreas had told them all about their roles. Hellene had always been the pack healer, but with her no longer here, Khalessi hoped to take over the role. But what if another varg came in that knew healing as she did and wanted the spot? The femme had never been a competitive being, but she was proud of what her mother had taught her and she didn’t want to just drop everything that Hellene had taught her. So as she made her way back home, she decided that she would show Aindreas that she was a skilled healer and ready to help the pack by holding a session for any interested in the art of healing. Khaleesi had had many training sessions with Hellene, and she hoped that she could be as helpful to others as her mother had been to her. When she was young she had always been curious about the world and how everything worked, as she was still, but she had never thought she would want to be a healer. Without those lessons at a young age, she may never had found her love for the art. She could only hope that someone else would appreciate as she did, and she could pass it on as Hellene had passed it on to her. She still remembered how exciting it had been when she was learning, and the mistakes she had made because she was too excited and had not taken her time. Khaleesi still grew excited about most things these days, never losing the puppyhood joy, but she knew when things were too important to rush. She had not yet encountered a life and death situation, but she had helped with minor injuries, and she had been careful to make sure everything was right, not rushing through any of the motions.

The femme was strategizing on what she would want to show to any that were interested, and what she would hold back on. She had been taught so many things and it all seemed so important to her, but she knew that she couldn’t overwhelm the others. Hellene had taken it slow to teach her, and even though Khaleesi got excited whenever she talked about healing, she knew she would need to take it slow. Paws passed over the border of Dierne Hrof, heading towards her den and where her store of herbs were. She wasn’t sure how many would be interested in what she was doing, but she wanted to have some things out to show them. She decided to start with two basic herbs, poppy and garlic. Green orbs swept through the small pockets in the earth she had dug to store each herb in separately, and quickly found what she needed. The poppy was always easy to find with its bright red color, but the garlic was lighter and had no bright hues to it. She took a mouthful of each, grasping them carefully in her jaws, and took them outside her den, placing them separately on the ground. Once everything was ready, the femme lifted her maw to the air, calling out to any in the pack that would be interested in a lesson in healing. Green orbs looked around hopefully, and slightly nervously. She had never been a shy wolf, but she had always never held a formal lesson before. It was exciting and a little scary at the same time, but she was ready.
