Although Lunero smiled at Ernesto’s response, the warmth seemed to fade from his expression just a touch, and when he spoke his voice sounded a little strained. Ernesto felt suddenly guilty for giving the stallion the wrong impression – he had enjoyed this chance meeting and didn’t want to scupper the chance of friendship so soon. He gave Lunero a look which he half hoped would convey this sentiment, but Ernesto decided this awkward situation was best dealt with otherwise by a light-hearted word and a change of subject. “Not to me,” he replied with a short chuckle, his dark lips curling into a wry smile once more. He paused a moment, turning his head to gaze around them at this strange new land they had at their feet. The world was his oyster once more, and he intended to explore every inch of it. “So where are you headed, mi amigo?” he asked, curious, as he turned back to Lunero. He hoped the question might put his companion back at ease, but he was intrigued to hear the answer besides. “Do you have a plan?” ernesto
