This band was very popular in the late 60s early70s here in the UK Jim. One or two of us (me for a start) preferred Bryan Maclean's songs to Arthur Lee's. Robyn Hitchcock paid tribute to Lee, in the splendidly-titled The Wreck of the Arthur Lee. An MP, invited Arthur Lee to visit the Houses of Parliament. A young David Bowie reportedly sent copies of his very first album to a nonplussed Lee, who wasn't very impressed. As for Bobby Beausoleil...Humbug (my old record label boss Kevin Crace, told me that he went to visit Beausoleil in jail! There was some connection with the film director Kevin Anger, I seem to remember. Weird scenes in the goldmine all round. The Damned of course covered a Love song and had a great big hit with it. Me? I liked Orange Skies. Replies:
