Was it his promise that kept him here? Or was it the feeling that he had wanted to help this girl? His mind was churning over and over with questions, and he knew that his natural shyness might be flooding back up. Even so, why does he still feel as if the effects of said shyness were slightly muted? Why is he suddenly able to handle more than he might have been such a short time before? He remains in his position, merely watching the three around him. He was keeping quiet, keeping a watch. His shyness was prickling beneath his fur, the urge to back away growing stronger in each breath he took. For a mere few moments, he wished that he could be more like his father. That he would be brave and strong, or at least look like he was. Why did he balk even more at the thought of just leaving them to their devices?

Where usually under stress and pressure he may falter a little, eventually feeling the urge to flee or hide from it, he could somehow manage it at the moment. Maybe it was because of the fact that there was something different about each of these wolves, something that made him stay even when he felt stretched thin. He had been about to speak to her about where this place was, but had been interrupted by the arrivals of the others. If she still wanted the answer, she could ask him again later, where he would be able to properly answer. For now he would continue to watch, continue to see what would unfold. Did this sort of thing happen often when offering help to someone young? Even as he thought it he knew it wasn't quite right, that this wasn't really any ordinary sort of meeting. There was something so very different at work here, he just couldn't place his paw on it.

His ears flickered briefly as he was introduced to the other brightly hued female, his dark eyes rising to look at them more closely. They were both so bright and strange, something he never saw before. Zawyne had ended up confirming that someone had put her in danger, something bad had indeed happened to her, and despite the fact that he didn't understand everything she had said, he still understood as best he could. Finally deciding to rise to his paws from his position on the ground, he let his muscles stretch, his tail swaying slightly behind him, as he relieved the ache in them that had begun to form. He didn't know of anyone with the name Duma, and didn't know anything about portals either. This alone was enough to tip him off that they came from somewhere else, somewhere that was possibly different in every way.

He was now sure that this had to be the sister, there was familiarity and love in the way they treated each other, so strong that he himself thought he could feel it. He wondered vaguely if it would have been like this if he had any surviving siblings, or if only some siblings are close, because he suspects that every family is different, some stricter than others, some more accepting and loving. That was when the sister seemed to kick into some sort of protective overdrive, using her own body to shield Zawyne from any looking eyes, her eyes sharp as if threatening him if he so much as breathed harder in their direction. Despite the fact that he was larger than she was he found himself lowering his gaze, his head and tail also lowering in a show of being no threat at all and even slightly submissing to one that shouldn't hold any authority over him, but he just felt as if it might soothe the situation somewhat. He isn't even used to behaving like this, but in this situation it just seemed like the right response.

He lifted his gaze once more when he heard her speak his name, though he allowed his posture to remain harmless. He can even feel himself calm further with this, his shyness wanting him to flee seemed like such a fleeting sensation now. He wasn't going to let himself wonder on that too much more, he'd just enjoy it while it was back under control, until it crept up and bled back into his veins. He watches and waits still more, keeping alert and watchful, even if his attention didn't stray from their little group too much. Even though he was not actively looking around him, he would still notice if anyone else were to approach. He didn't speak even when addressed, partially because the words to say did not come, and partially because he knew that the thing that mattered most was the sisters getting their time together.

He kept his watch and still made no move to speak or interfere, not even as something happened between the other male and Zawyne's sister. He almost felt like maybe he had just witnessed something important, something touched by magic itself. He felt vaguely as if he were out of place here, surrounded by things he did not understand, but he would be damned if he never tried to understand. This was maybe what solidified his desire to stay, to see them through this to the end, and see them happy and safe. Both he and the other male were addressed again, and his attention focuses solidly on the rainbow. She speaks of choosing them to accompany her, in something that sounded like quite the grand undertaking. Children were mentioned of course, and that just caused his eyes to flicker towards Zawyne again. Were there other children that needed help, other colorful children like Zawyne, others like both of these girls that just needed to find each other again? He knew that it wouldn't be just to turn a blind eye to this, though that had never been his intention from the start.

For maybe the first time since either stranger came out of the woodworks, Noctis decided that now was the time to speak. "Why would I not offer my help? I offered my help once already, and it still stands, even if the situation has changed." His voice is calmer than he had been just a little while ago, light but strong in it's tones. The fact remained that it could still be quite dangerous for them out there, that there could be any number of things that could go wrong, and if he could help them at all then that's what he must do. "I have never been one to go back on my word." He didn't offer nearly as much physical power as the other male seemed to have, but that didn't mean that he couldn't be useful in some other sense. There was something dawning over his horizon, and he'd follow this adventure wherever it took him.
