The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Cool air permeated the wasteland, misty veils of fog lingering both in the lowlands and higher in the mountainous ridges. Warm breaths misted just faintly from the ebony wolf's nose as he ambled through at a casual and explorative pace through the rocky terrain, saffron eyes alert and lifted to scan the land ahead. Since his agreement to join what was now the pack of Graes Waegholm, Harlow had slipped away from the group for a time - his paws and his mind carrying him off in his own solitary explorations. Though he had initially craved the sense of belonging and companionship a pack could offer, he regretted that his decision had been made rashly and that he'd pledged to the first pack that he came to, a pack with an inexperienced alpha and a land that had changed beneath their very paws.

Yet for all his pessimistic thoughts, perhaps there was some silver lining to the matter of his new pack. It was only just forming and with that came opportunities which were not always so readily available. An alpha alone did not make a pack, but depended on others to fill the ranks and fulfill the roles necessary for the pack to succeed. Harlow warred with the sudden allure he felt towards the spark of an idea, a possibility that had come to mind as Siku had addressed the lot of them with talk of organization and ranks. He'd remained quiet, needing to mull the thought around on his own, taking his earlier time away to ponder it more thoroughly.

But now it was time. Siku's howl had called them together once more and the ebony-shaded wolf found himself the first to arrive before the two-toned alpha. He offered a curt dip of his head, saffron eyes glancing to the sides in expectation for the others to arrive. Allowing them the time to do so and to hear his pronouncement before he broke his silence. "As a young pack, Graes Waegholm needs a strong Beta to provide strength to its numbers. I will be that Beta and if any think they can best me, they can try. I will meet any challenger." Harlow shifted his gaze around to those present, seeking any challenger amongst the pack, even one who simply wished to test his skill if not to truly vie for the position. He was confident in his abilities to defend his word and was willing to show it. With his part spoken, the male quieted and let his roving gaze continue to search among his packmates for a potential challenger as he waited for the others to announce positions that they were interested in.
