Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Cuirass had figured the conversation was pretty much over, already turning on his heels to head back to Iromar so he wasn't expecting to be hearing Orifel's arrogant voice so soon over his shoulder. Of course he should have known he would hit a cord sooner rather than later. The assassin had spent almost that whole encounter trying to be unreadable and neutral, something those assassin-types seemed to pride themselves on. Let them keep their robotic expression. Cuirass would take his pleasurable countenance anyday. Seems more efficacious in creating fear anyway. His kind could continue to look down on cannibals but in Cuirass' eyes, they're all just killers of a different kind. They all crave blood in one form or another. The only difference is the source. He didn't see assassins as beneath him, only more equal on the scale than Orifel's family would probably ever dare to say they are. Whereas Cuirass says they're the same, Orifel scoffs and says they're nothing alike. Let him keep his denial if it helps him sleep at night.

His accusing tone made Cuirass laugh as he snorted and shook his head. "We both know I have no reason to. You're going to believe what you're going to believe. But we did get answers out of Arace before we showed her the justice of the swamp." His brow arched in amusement as he thought back to that day that he got to drain the female almost completely dry and drown her in the murky water while Despoina got her vengeance out of the assassin's flesh. Even from here, Cuirass could see the wheels turning viciously in Orifel's head. He knew Cuirass had no reason to lie so the real question would be, who hired her? Seems he had given Diveen a new mystery to solve. Best to take advantage while he could. Orifel suddenly turned to interrogating and Cuirass tilted his head, eyes practically glowing as he made a tsk tsk sound in his throat. "Surely, you know it doesn't work like that. I give some, you give some. Sounds like even you know Pine wouldn't start a fight without good cause. So the next question is, how will you fish out the blackhand that turned two packs on each other? Let me know if you need a hand. You've seen my work now and you know it breeds results."

Chuckling, he gave Orifel a teasing wink and licked his lips as if in memory of Arace's blood. Arace wouldn't give them a name, just the pack, but give him another turn at her and he would have her spelling it out in the dirt with shaking paws.
