Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Lazarus

He was too excited. He learned about the ball and how Zelda was hosting it. He had spent all the day before gathering all types of flowers he could find. Pink ones, blue ones, yellow ones, and white ones. He gathered a few long greens to go along with it. He spent the morning putting them all together, arranging them in a pile that he could easily grab. It took him...much too long, perhaps, but he could not help it. The flowers had her so happy before, and he wanted to see that happiness on her face again. It made his heart swell with joy and made him worries seem to fade away, if just for this little while.

It was the day of the ball and he was thrilled. He wanted to follow Aster and her family, but his mind was...too distracted by thinking of Zelda. He ran ahead of the family with flowers full in his mouth. His eyes were wide and beaming. His tail was up and wagging. He was on cloud nine and he barely understood why. He knew she meant more to him than anyone, which did give him a bit of guilt. He had only met her once, but already she had taken his breath away. Aster was his sister but she didn’t come close to what Zelda made him feel. He would never say such a thing though, but it was true. He was Zelda’s if he liked it or not, and his mind was incapable of considering any other possibility.

When he arrived to Taviora he found himself hesitating a bit. It was the first time he felt the hesitation in the past few days. He paused, and found himself frozen at the border for a good couple of minutes. The odd thing was, he stood with a hopeful face full of flowers and wagging tail, but as if he was frozen in time as his mind attempted to get over his fear. He does though, and eventually enters to the meeting point. As wolves come in, finds himself near the back as he normally would do. He does not drop his flowers for a moment as he waits, not really sure what to expect. He sits on his haunches, tail thumping on the ground as his ears fall back in a bit of nervousness.

Then he sees her and he freezes once again, simply taken by her beauty. He does not move other than his wide eyes blinking as she clears her throat and begins speaking, her words like music to his ears. Night was coming upon them, and usually that makes him extra nervous, but Zelda was here, and he felt like he was melting into his paws. He held onto every word until her speech ended, and tried to think of how he could make this a good night to remember. His mind mulled over the words he might say to her and how he may present her the flowers as she finished her speech, and his mind mulled over this for a few minutes after, ignoring anyone else around him.

After his mind came up with something, he suddenly sprung up and looked for Zelda again. He was a decent distance away when he spots her, but his tail wags like mad when he does again. He begins to trot towards her when another comes to her side shoulder by shoulder. He finds himself pausing immediately mid-step. His heart begins to beat fast and his nerves immediately sting as they normally do. He then ducks down, figuring she had not seen him yet, and he slinks to a nearby bunch of foliage. He peeks around to see the male speaking with her closely. He does not hear any words due to how far he was, but his mind begins to churn. What...what if she has a mate like Aster does? What if he was intruding? What if she didn’t want him around? Suddenly, his excitement and bliss was eaten by the monster of his own traumatized mind. It was not his place to insert himself into anyone else’s situation. He was wrong to feel so excited. He was wrong to bring these flowers as his head slowly lowers.

He should have known. He feels his own demons in his mind controlling him once more. He then takes one more look towards Zelda from around the foliage, before dashing off towards a grouping of trees not too far off to hide and perhaps gather himself again. He lowers his muzzle and drops the flowers, and curls into a ball, suddenly wishing he had not ran ahead of Aster and knew where she was, wishing for her comfort in these moments.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
