The day was calm. The air was warm and still, yet the heat was not suffocating. It was early and the sun had not yet fully risen to illuminate the world. On the shore stood a mare who had recently emerged from the cold and bitter sea. She was alone. Tyrande had been drawn to this place. It was like an invisible rope had been tied around her neck, pulling urgently. She had not fully rested since she had set out on her journey just a few short days ago.

Even now, exhausted as she was, the priestess could not stand still. With careful steps she moved from the shore to find herself some sort of nourishment. There was a thick patch of grass that was still wet with the morning dew. She whispered a silent thank you to the foliage as she lowered her head, ripping a few blades away with her teeth. Nothing had ever tasted so sweet.

After consuming enough to take the edge off of her hunger, the ghostly mare finally took a moment to take in her surroundings. It almost seemed like a dream. The destruction of her home, the loss of her family, and this new mysterious place. A soft sigh escapes her lips as she turns her eyes back to the sea. Fire burns bright behind those dark orbs. The flames were alive, crawling up the forest trees, pulling them down in a pile of ashes. Hollow screams rang through the pale mare’s ears. Tyrande had been the lone survivor of her herd, the rest taken by the demon fire while she had remained safe, protected by The Mother Moon’s light that night. She tried somewhat successfully to quell the rising tide of emotions inside of her. Everything was gone. There was no one left. It was best to let the memories fade and focus on the present.

Her new beginning.

A gentle breeze caressed her and drew her attention away from the sea. The scent of many equine lingered in her nostrils and she now noticed a few bodies littering the landscape. Tyrande was not a shy creature and speaking with someone living would perhaps keep the ghosts away. Her body, however, was exhausted and demanded rest. Lowering her head, she continues to graze under the warm light of the sun.
