Falls

Her laughter fades away, but the remnants of that ever so carefree tinkling sound remain in the shape of an upward smile upon her pink lips. She wonders, perhaps, what it must be like to be a fuzzy forest creature, having such fun in an endless landscape. To be that small, it must take ages to travel anywhere. For one of Jaci’s elegant steps would be a rabbit’s five hops at least. From wayyy down there, the world must seem so large, larger still, for Jaci, event at her height (though she is small by equine standards) finds the world so very big. As a rabbit, a small, little rabbit, the world may seem entirely impossible to explore. Maybe, she thinks, she will come back here and find that little, fluffy, white rabbit and take him or her to see the world.

She laughs, just to herself at such a silly thought. But then she thinks maybe it is not so silly, maybe it could be entirely possible. One day, perhaps.

Breathing in once more the frigid air, freezing her nostrils, her insides, her everything, she turns away from the fluffy-tailed friend on this wintery afternoon and looks out across the falls. It is there she spots a station made of soot, who in turn turn away from her.

Jaci cannot fight her friendly nature.
No matter how hard she really ought to try.

“Hello there!” she calls out him as she trots over, her steps light and airy as she pushes through the snow that lay dormant on the frozen ground. Jaci comes to rest before the sooty bay, smile bright, ears alert. Eager or the companionship he brings, unaware of the lagoon smell and what it means as it rolls off his body, flowing freely into her paper thing nares.
