INDIGO
SOFT BREATH, BEATING HEART
AS I WHISPER IN YOUR EAR
I WANT TO FUCKING TEAR YOU APART
Indigo nodded at the words. She could understand the sentiment. Sometimes, the den and the moors of Iromar became claustrophobic. There was something cloying in the air, the fog could feel syrupy and sickly against her pelt. In those times she was reminded of Other Mother's lifeless eyes staring up at her. Then, it was not enough to simply leave. She felt as though she must claw through her skin to ever feel truly free of loss and pain. Indigo could howl and bark and snarl at the moon but she could never say why. For Adrian, though, she assumed that the reasoning was not so simple. The young girl had learned that not everyone was so cut-and-dry, most did not feel things in black and white. There was no spectrum. What she felt simply was, and when it left her, it simply was not.
Her eyes narrowed at her sister's grin, and Indigo jumped up with a growl as Adrian leapt into the water. She ducked down into a hunter's crouch, shielding her eyes against the splash of water. When she looked back up, there was a playfully dangerous glint in her eyes. Indigo was not the type to back down from a challenge. She backed up slightly, before springing forwards with a powerful leap. The girl aimed to land just in front of Adrian, hopefully creating a large splash of water that would shower over her face. She felt the cool water brush through the furs of her pelt, a pleasing sensation on a hot summer's day. The river was deeper here, enough so that her paws did not touch the ground at the deepest points.
Indigo grinned devilishly, before paddling towards Adrian. She ducked her head under the water, a bit panicked at the unfamiliar feeling of breathlessness, aiming to get it underneath her sisters stomach and jerk upwards. With any luck, it would send her sister crashing down into the water, but Indigo assumed it would not take her long to retaliate. Bring it on.
