He knew that her parents were right, that they were just doing what was best for her and her confinement was for only as long as she was young and small, made to be easy prey for wolves who were larger, stronger and more violent than that she could ever perceive until she met them. However he was willing to humor her. He already had come across two such wolves on his own first venture out when going after his sister Aakil. They were violent with no reason and were harassing his small sister only to be entertained. She might not have survived if he hadn’t been the distraction enough to keep them away from her long enough to run. They lost interest in him and left though, he wasn’t as fun as his scared sister had been apparently.
So she thinks the land is of adventure, and while that was true, Zanon knew otherwise. He knew the danger out there as well. He pondered her for a moment, wondering how much she knew of the outside, thinking about how far they could go and just how much he was willing to be excoriated for what he was going to do. He knew there was no way he would damage any political ties, but there was the whole thought of his family getting another pup potentially killed. His father had murdered one girl, he wasn’t about to willingingly take another to her death. Not today at least.
He considered Maris for a moment, smiling slightly as she asked just how much he was willing to be her accomplice. ”I am, but perhaps on a subsequent meeting. Be a little too suspicious if I were to run out with you today. How about early next season? I will come and get you and we can go wandering around. I will find something fun for you to do so we can make the best of your time.” He said his tail waving lightly. ”What do you think? You can even think of things you want to do too, so we can make the most of it.” He assured her, certain she would be disappointed, but she wasn’t wrong there was a good bit of risk on his part to run off with her, especially if her father was pretty observant of the borders.
He would be back though he would promise that if she doubted him.
