the descent to hell is easy

Aster’s voice is familiar and comforting but it is a distant noise among the chaos that is the process of this belated birthing. Eclipse cannot think of anything but the pain that radiates from inside her even as she wearily cares for the three writhing newborns at her side. They are all so bloody even after she makes attempts to clean them. Her metal ringed eyes roll upward toward the shadowesque queen as the question rings in her ears. ”I… I don’t think so,” she stumbles over her words as she admits to the problem that is plaguing her. Her attention finds the wiggling threesome on the floor of the den as her vision moves in and out of focus. Her head falls to her legs in exhaustion as her eyes close for a moment of peace. That’s all she wanted was just to rest her eyes, she promised herself that she would be up again in a moment.
Time passes and she is even too tired to dream but somehow her mind wanders back to the presence of Aster and her eyes opened again. She looks to the den entrance for her black and red companion. ”Aster…” her name is spoken stronger than when she had tried to answer before. She beckons her down into the large space again for support, eyes softened by the fact that her body is ravaged and bleeding. ”Am I going to… die?” she strains to speak normally, her tone darkened by the possibility of her demise. ”You can’t let me,” she demands of her unlikely friend. ”You can’t let me,” she repeats herself in a more pleading manner as she looks up to the smaller female.
She had never found a friend like Aster before and she doubted that she would again in her lifetime. They were not the picturesque friendship that others imagined when one spoke of a companion but somehow it worked. And now Eclipse was asking a lot from that connection.
