Re(6): Awe....some!

As reference, the video we get from Dania looks like 30 FPS. I randomly chose Wed Eve G1 and the video is 12:34 with 22922 frames, which = 30.4. Close enough.

I am looking at Ubilla in post 3 throwing a right side from the 9 line.

I use VirtualDub and also VLC.

Just eyeballing it, the pelota appears to move about 4 feet between frames. In an individual frame the pelota looks like a 1 foot blur or has multiple image ghosting.

My guess is about 4 feet per frame and 100 mph works out to 146 feet per sec. Divide by 30 and we get 4.9. At least we are in the ballpark.

So we would definitely want to look into 60 FPS mode.

I think the precision of the interval between frames is going to be important, but probably the camera makers have already handled that.

As I see it, just 2 images shortly after the release might be enough. But half a dozen would allow for smoothing of the errors.

The Gold Standard is the reading from the radar gun. Can we match it?

If you video the contest shots we can find out.
