Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

It is sensory overload, to be honest. So many foreign wolves, so many he recognized as family, so many that were the family of his brotherhood, and there were even some who were apparently family he had never had the chance to meet properly. It is enough to send his alarm bells into a fit, this many wolves to keep an eye on, and he is suddenly very glad that Zelda has not wandered far enough to move out of eyesight. Not that the family or family of his brothers were a concern-- but the foreigners… this was a terrorism nightmare. Champion or not, he’d have had a struggle with this atmosphere, no doubt, as even just border patrol.

But then Samia is doing that too-intelligent thing and he near chokes on his heart as it leaps into his throat. "Have you told her how you feel yet? Mother wouldn’t like you to hesitate you know. Her and father were quick about their love and I think you should be too." His eyes are suddenly white enough to see his whites and his head snaps around to look mortified at his sister. “I most certainly have not!” He exclaims, hushed scolding tone only rasped for the attempt to keep his voice beneath the camouflage of the party-goers din. Samia, however, of course, hears none of his warning and even a mite of threat in his tone (though the threat could never have gone more than a proper sitting-on of his sister).

"Do you need help? I can help you know, I gave advice to Alistair too!"

"Ah, Alexander, Samia. It is good to see you both together. Don't be shy. Lady Zelda is a gracious host, I am sure she would be pleased to speak with you."

She whips around just then, facing pointedly at Zelda, who he could only pray didn’t notice his sister aiming to make a bee-line straight towards her. “Samia, don’t bother her wi---” but he doesn’t get the sentence out, and his sister was well beyond his reach in seconds. Instead he is face to face with his brother, elder brother and superior in ranking, and we all know what a stickler the poor lad is for hierarchy and respect. "How is Champion-ship treating you, Alexander? Hand-picked... you must be honored."

He swallows, barely able to rip his eyes off his sister in a near-panic (probably satisfying for Alistair to know that he is capable of anything but boyish optimism and idealistic leadership of his little band of merry men). “I was most honored, of course. Though on nights like tonight I am finding it treats me as it might treat anyone in charge of keeping it safe as well as keeping the peace. This idea is lovely for diplomacy perhaps, but it is hell on the nerves of our Goddess’s Empathy. Vladimir, Constantine, and Herschel are out doing rounds. They insisted I be with our Goddess tonight....”

His head snaps around suddenly, only barely biting off the sudden realization and accusation as Alistair manages to interrupt his near-miss of epiphany. "Lady Zelda has always spoken highly of you. I suppose it was only natural." His bitten tongue and his shamefaced and embarrassed appearance was overwhelming his usual unbreakable poise. “You lot just want to see me dead. She does not need the trouble of worrying over the heart of a wolf far her inferior, Alistair. She may never trust me again, knowing that I have held a torch for her. Especially… Oh, Mother Moon, I am doomed to be the laughing stock of Taviora, brother.”

He does not speak too fast, but it is at a finer clip than might have been easiest for Alistair to read. He forgets his brother’s ears in an attempt to hide his face from his Goddess and his nosey little sister’s direction.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
