Good evening Irene
Sadly most if not all service records of WW1 soldiers were destroyed during the Blitz. However, some did survive and formed the core record of documents held by the National Archives as the WW1 Medal Rolls. More of that in a moment. However though, a number of records many burnt and damaged but containing relevant information, are available through the various on line ' Ancestry ' Web Sites. In many cases you can search their records for a ' hit ' but you will of course have to pay a fee or ' Sign Up ' to see the actual record(s).
I will place a link below to take you to the Medal Rolls. Just fill in the relevant details and hopefully you will get a positive result.
Regards
Geoff P

Having just checked the Medal Rolls I cannot find anyone using the full name. However searching just Robert Lofthouse brings up 11 results...none of whom served in the Lancashire Fusiliers. Please scan the photo you have and attach to an email to me. Where did the info come from that he was a 6th vet?
