IPL on pace to catch IPF in near future Posted on 11/29/2017 at 12:07:10 PM by Gary g
Ipl european cup, for the second year in a row, has brought in over 1200 lifter, representing 23 countries (more than double the 10 countries represented at actual IPL worlds). As a response, IPL announced that in 2018 they will hold their first truly international world meet. Worlds will be held in Moscow. (Tested worlds will still be held in vegas).
I know many here hate uspa, for whatever reason, but i will be glad to see another true international fed, now that wpc seems to be on the downward slope.
As an aside, there were seven seperate countries represented at IPL's oceana cup.
Take this with a grain of salt, as they could theoretically write whatever they wanted, but USPA is claiming 14,000 active memberships to close out the year. USAPL has not released an 'active' count, but said in there last news letter that over 17,000 competed in their meets in 2017. Not a bad place for USPA to be considering they are less than 8 years old. Replies:
