a vexatious kiss

This twisted relationship was taking a new and stranger turn. The two femmes were only at this conclusion because Diosa had fed from Briseis once and she’d survived it. To Diosa this meant that she was more likely to survive than any other poor soul who would have pulled the short straw and been her next meal. Diosa had not wanted to reach that point though; she didn’t want to feed from strangers. She did not want to be the creature of the shadows that was the thing of nightmares… yet she already was. Diosa was a vampire through and through. She could not fight it, deny it, or starve herself out of it. Therefore, she was once more stuck in a dilemma of fearing and fighting death, but still needing to survive. That’s where Briseis came in. In some twisted logic, she figured that because Bri had survived once she would once more. Although the more she thought about the more she questioned this whole decision because what if she was wrong. Wrong, would mean death or vampirism. If Diosa thought she couldn’t live with herself now, she knew that if Bri was to die or change that she would want death for herself. She would’ve given anything, if that happened, to reverse the effects. She would die before she let Bri die.

And she ought not to forget Draven.

Draven – master over Briseis. If something were to happen to Briseis Draven would no doubt rip through the pack and figure out who it was that had messed up. And eventually all trails would lead to Diosa. Not because Bri would out her to the Mesmer on her own, but Draven would force it out of her through whatever means. She did not know what a master could do to their Mesmer, but she did not want to find out, nor did she want Bri to suffer through it. She was sure that the femme was already suffering enough at Draven’s paw and she was not helping. But here they were the question already asked, and though she was okayed to feed it did not change how bad she felt over it nor the fact that it could still get out to Draven if they were caught. This could not stop her now though, instincts had kicked in and she was too drawn to shake it. Pulling away and conscious completely now she cowered in fear, but she felt a small nudge on her shoulder. Pulling her face out of her paws, she saw Bri staring down at her. Diosa gasped, Briseis, you’re okay?! The surpise in her voice was evident, a sheepish smile coming to her lips as she jumped up and nuzzled into Bri. Thank goodness, I was so worried… scared… She spoke in a muffled voice into the other’s nape.

She pulled away as the sound of Bri’s voice, a series of questions spilling out into air around them. None of which Diosa could claim to know the answer to. I know I am still a vampire, unfortunately. I guess it’s entirely possible that you could have become immune, but I don’t know. I am not entirely sure of all my abilities just yet, so I’m exactly the best candidate to ask. I would highly doubt this happens often, but since this is only the second or third time that I’ve done this on my own, I’m not sure. I guess we’ll be figuring it out together. Suddenly Bri stumbled away from her and Diosa realized she had said they needed to leave. Diosa ran after the speckled femme and pushed herself next to Briseis letting the older femme lean on her for support. Her strength had finally returned after feeding, but she knew and saw how much she had drained from Briseis – blood and energy.

The two femmes moved slowly through the woods. Diosa watched carefully around them to make that they would not fall into any boggy areas or slip down the banks into the crocodile infested waters. Though she was still very clueless as to where they were headed. Briseis seemed to know exactly where they were going though. She was leading their little venture anyhow, Diosa was just acting as a crutch to her to keep her safe and steady. Suddenly a cavernous den seemed to appear out of nowhere. They padded into the darkness that imbued it, not that this affected Diosa much. Her crimson pools seemed brighten up as she searched around them, realizing it was an old den. She turned back to Briseis, her ears perked at the sound of her voice, You cannot tell anyone about this - no one may know, no one can know. I do not mind you feeding on me, especially now. But you were different from the rest. You are good, kind, and have a decent heart. But can you imagine? If Draven knew, he would finally feed on me, only he would never stop. And if your siblings knew? They too would abuse me, and take advantage of this trait. Do you understand Diosa? You can tell no one, ever. And… Do you think you could help me find a way to escape Draven? She blinked, internalizing all of the words and thinking of an answer.

I would never tell anyone Briseis, You’ve saved me twice now and I owe you for that at least. I hate that I have to do this, even only the one time a season, if I knew how to survive without feeding on another wolf I would, but normal prey doesn’t work… I tried. Your secret is safe with me Briseis. She took a deep breath, And Briseis I would do anything to help you escape Draven. Before I say I owe it to you for what you’ve done for me, know that I would do it because you are my friend. No one deserves to be under Draven’s paw… I want to help you. I’ll do anything Briseis, all you have to do is ask. There has to be a way to break the curse, what is done can be undone. Diosa wondered what exactly had to be done though, would Draven have to die? Did he have to release Bri, or could Diosa and Briseis do something to break it without Draven knowing? Logically if Draven died the bond would break, but I don’t know otherwise. Is there any herb lore about breaking bonds? Little stories that your mother would have told you, or whoever taught you healing? It was worth a shot wasn’t it?
