She would have scoffed at his words but instead, she shrugged instead; “Deep down we are all opportunist some have better hearts than others and yet if they wish to read me as such they take no time to know me; take no time to find my weakness. Do you know me? Don’t mistake me though, my words are clear; my pack will always remain at peace if I can help it. I respect Zelda, she is innocent and good, I don’t wish to have her kindness abused.” She had taken more time to speak with him than she had any previous leaders. Was he as brilliant as she anticipated him to be or did he dare disappoint? After all, she was extending a branch of trust she did not with others. She had shared at least spoken of one of her weakness to him, then again wasn’t family a weakness to most if not all?
Mara Sov’s attention refocused at the small laugh he offered. She cast him a gaze of acknowledgment though it was still a hard gaze none the less. Mara never responded she merely gave him a nod of approval. After all, he had called her an opportunist why wouldn’t she capitalize on such an event? Her pack was kind and honorable, while she did hold some honer she saw things more tactically than one might think was needed. While her plans didn’t call for an attack, the collection of knowledge could prove a fair bit of defense and counter-attack should it ever come to that. The choice to see things like a game of peace and war was her own, perhaps not all could understand it but in the end as long as she maintained balance was her tactical approach to things all that flawed? The young female couldn’t see exactly all the flaws yet but she expected some in one form or another.
The words of her offer or inquiry rather, come to light and she meets his gaze waiting in silence for him to speak his peace. “In time I seek to broaden my horizons having others to help you is never a bad thing, is it? I have youth and time to learn but if you are not interested how should I even try to sway you? After all, I have little to offer you at the moment and I don’t take you as one to accept without reason. Then again, I've asked little more than to be seen as a friend, have I not?” A soft sigh and a shake of her head before a light humor played in her eyes. “Why else would you have the desire to go? After all, it is an evening of fun and a festivities. Forgive me, but you do ask the most humor questions, nameless one and please, call me Mara Sov or Mara.” The coroners of her maw turned up with a slight smile. If he held his tongue on her then she would do the same for him.
Mara settled with a deep sigh casting her gaze back to the sea, lingering on the fringes of the males pelt, he seemed familiar to her own likeness but she couldn’t explain why and perhaps it was one of the things that cautioned her the most. “Tell me dear one, do you expect peace for very long? I’ve heard vague things of disagreements and yet little of war. War of my bloodlines, yes. I cannot help but feel we will see bloodshed again in time at least.” Perhaps this is where she slipped from looking from the shore into nothingness. Her pack was one of peace but she couldn’t resist stalking a true war from atop a peek, perhaps justice was rightful for her standing. She is not a murder at her age and perhaps she may never be, but she was curious to see how many wolves would a single leader sacrifice in such a time of bloodshed should it arise.
