When I finally see him my ears perk and my red-tipped tail wag high in the sky. I see his face, and although I smile with genuine excitement, there is a bit of worry that lingers beneath. I see the scars that he obtained helping me and I cannot help but feel some sort of guilt. It was never my intent for him to get hurt. Yet I know I should not blame myself for the actions of Thorne. Thorne operates on his own, and he certainly operates with dark intent. He is not a reflection of me...although...who can say? He is my imprint. No one REALLY knows how imprinting works, but they say they are your other half. Why is mine so...yucky?
Thus my emotions are mixed when I see him. I appreciate him more than he knows and he makes my eyes glow bright on this overcast day, but his scars are a reminder of the potential burden I bring him. Yet, he chose to lead the pack of the fields. He is choosing to take on this burden of leadership, and I feel it is my duty to be by his side as he does this after all that has happened.
I dip my head in greeting as he says my name and welcomes me to the pack, asking if I was going to visit or stay. I tilt my head up slightly with a playful smirk. ”Arturio! I see you have been busy, eh?” I say as I make a few strides towards him to meet him in the middle. I take a quick look around with my bright greens, light beams still making their slow movement across the fields on this overcast day.
”Ayeee I dunno,” I say teasingly, looking back at him with a playful shrug. ”You only helped me with my imprint and all,” I say with a bit of my smile fading. My ears fall back slightly as I look at my paws for a moment. ”And uh, thanks for that,” I say swiping the dirt with my paws. I hate that fate has tied me with something so wicked. I simply wanted to live my life as I want, but I feel I have to be on edge most of the time.
”Oh uh, I tried to cover my tracks, take a long path, backtrack some, hide my scent in water and all that jazz to get here. I don’t think he will know I am here...at least, not immediately…” I say with my head lifting some again. ”He knew where I lived before and his pack and mine shared borders. I can’t stay there any longer like that,” I say with a slight frown that morphs into a smile again. ”Sooooo mind if I stay here instead? I promise I’ll work real hard for ya,” I say, reaching out to job his shoulder with my right paw, winking as I do so. I might be somewhat teasing, but I am serious. I will work hard, just as I had for Iromar!
