The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Crith-Thalmhainn had been quiet, and that was partly her fault. She wanted to get more pack members, yes, but she was plagued by something that she had not expected to find, not here. And that unexpected emotion... it was depression. Surely, she had felt it before. But that had been in her own land, and long ago - before Cynbel had taken her under his wing. Before she had come into her own, found her special niche in the world. What else was a child to feel other than depression when they had no friends, no friends to lean upon and yet those surrounding wolves that existed called her names, made fun of her, picked on her. Her past was no secret - her own parents had not wanted her, had given her up with hopes of her death. With hopes that mother nature with reclaim her and send her back into the soil. The crazy old loons had adopted her - ones that were said to be a witch and a warlock respectively. Finally, that she was going to be following in their footsteps - that she was the devil, or at least one of his demon minions. It all made sense, really, especially given her defects. After all, what wolf had an iris without any color? What wolf had skin that sloughed off without cause of infection or trauma. She was a beast, a demon, something to be reviled and hated. And that was the cause of the wolves’ exact thoughts that she had been depressed all those years ago. But why here? Until Cynbel had came along, no one knew her fate, her past.

Perhaps it was the appearance of Cynbel himself that was affecting her so much. After all, he had broken her heart and her trust so long ago… And now he was just a horrible reminder erect time that happened to her. So perhaps it was him. But what if it was just her? After all, tragedy seem to follow her wherever she went - first at her own suffering, but then her adoptive parents had been murdered by those afraid of their differences. And afterward? How many of her lovers had been destroyed by their relationships? And how many had lost everything that they had simply because they had spent one night loving her? Far too many, certainly, and yet that have been her job. But no longer… And yet even here in this new land, Dante had held tragedy in her heart and had left after spending one night with Nimueh. What caused everything to be tainted, to bring pain to all those she came to care about? And if so, if that really was the case, what was there to do about it? Nimueh found herself filled with deep dark thoughts that took over all of her. There was no escape from it, no sleeping, no release. She almost hoped that another pack member would come upon her, to pull her from her abysmal dungeon of self loathing… but then something amazing had happened… Hadn’t it?

She had spent so many nights with different lovers over the years, and never once had she become pregnant. The Iberianess had assumed that due to her defect perhaps, or some other means, she was infertile. That her womb was a hostile environment and would never be able to bear pups to her. And yet now it was only a few short weeks after she had visited Kershov, and had she just felt a kick? She was a neatly trimmed wolf, not athletic at all, but naturally lithe and graceful.… And yet she had not begun to show at all. It confused her to no end… There it was again! Movement, within her stomach, but she was quite certain that she had not eaten anything alive recently. Fuck there it was again! Nim bit her lip and the corners of her lips curled upward - she with child? It was a blessing, miracle really… And immediately she felt her depression lift away from her. She had no intention of bearing pups with Kershov due to her supposed sterility… But apparently that was not… It was not the case anymore. Nimueh was just leaning over to nuzzle at her abdomen, when a scent crossed her nostrils - Lev.

Her smile grew, and she rose to her paws, ready to greet him. She was on the edge of the precipice, on one of the tall plateaus that overlooked the rest of the land. It was dry, having had all of the run off melted snow drip down the sides and into the river that was now thrashing violently in the crevices of the pack. It was so much stronger than it had been last year… yet she turned away from that sight and yet happily when she saw Lev come into her optics… And he began his monologue perfectly - my queen. Nim sat and listened attentively to his tales - almost all of the land had changed. She nodded along with him as he told her about the packs he had been to and the freelands he had run across. Apparently, they were in a whole new place now…

Lev you have done well. Now it is my turn to tell you what I have found - the one pack you did not go to, not only has this moved in position, but in land as well. Where once it was a flatland with trees a plenty, it is now a rock and boulder land on the edge of an ocean. There are no trees, save one, and it is full of caves and strange creatures of the sea that crawl up its edges to either become predator or prey. And as for here? Our own home? It is odd, really. Everything that was within the land itself is still there… Only the surface has been ripped away, deeper in some places and shallower in others. Up here, this is the same as it always was… But down below, innumerable amounts of rock was torn to expose the river that once flowed through the caverns. And the caverns? They are still there, only some of the entrances have been ripped away. Since you’ve been gone, I have been extensively studying the map work, and will be more than glad to teach it to you - it is a labyrinth really, and quite easy to become lost. Still, it is a gift really, for it means that our foes will not be able to sneak in - they would get lost quite quickly.

Nimueh hesitated, but then put her head up high - her pregnancy was nothing to be ashamed of, nor was it something to hide from her pack mates. Trust and respect was a two-way street, and she would not let her pack down.

As a sidenote, it would appear that I am with child. It changes nothing, but it is something of note. Now, to digress to our previous conversation - you said at the pack meeting that you wish to be trusted, respected. That you wish to rule the pack at my side, that you wanted to have responsibility. Well at least this day, you have earned it, Lev. You will be my beta, and with that certainly does come responsibility. You can greet new members and allow them entrance to the pack, I will trust your judgment. And now that I have one wolf in my hierarchy, I suppose I should come up with rules for each of the ranks… I shall think about it and inform you of them soon, get your thoughts on them. From now on, you will be privy to my thoughts, be it for good or bad.
