The time had finally come. Even though it only felt like yesterday that him and his mate had been discussing pups and whether or not they both wanted them, the time to have the pups was now. Grey Wind had been deep asleep in the dead of night, when he heard Macaria cry out for him. He knew that she was far along, he had been able to see her grow as the pups within her grew, and with each and every day that passed he waited anxiously for when she would whelp. Grey Wind had been excited for the pups, a little nervous, but mostly excited. The nerves came in the moment though. When Macaria awoke him, he was instantly awake, concern and worry on his features at her frantic and rambling cries. He took one look at her and he knew the time had come. It was then that the male realized how little he knew about pups and there was nothing he could do to help her. All he could do was stay by her side until everything was done. The only good thing was that Macaria could not feel pain. He knew that would have only made things worse for his mate. After some time, all four of the pups had made it to the world. Two boys and two girls. As Grey Wind looked at them, he knew they were perfect, that there was nothing wrong with them at all. And they were now four of the most important things in his life. For a few moments Grey Wind was blinded to what was truly going on. It was only Macaria’s vocals that alerted him to what was going on. His yellow orbs focused back on her, and he was shocked by how much blood he saw. Then he knew something was wrong. The pups may be fine and perfect, but his mate was not. He didn’t’ realize how bad it was until she told him to go and find this Thackery. Grey Wind had no idea who he was. A part of him didn’t want to know. A part of him was desperate to know. But if a vampire was the only thing that could save his mate, then he would find him. Whatever it takes, he would convince this stranger to come back with him and save her. Even though the pups were safe, he couldn’t imagine his life without Macaria. Without her there was no life. He stared at her for a moment, unable to produce any words at all, before he ran, pushing his muscular form through the den and out into the night. For once he was thankful that there were no trees within the pack, making his trail a more straightforward one through the territory. The male pushed his muscles to their limit, running as fast as he could, ignoring everything else around him. The only thing he focused on was to run, as fast as he could. His lungs heaved for air, but he forced himself to ignore them. He thought of Macaria, and only of her, when he felt his muscles spasm, protesting the exertion he was putting his body through. His breath came in gasps as he ran, forcing himself to just keep going. Eventually he made it to the caves, and he realized he had no idea where within these caves Thackery resided. Frantic, the brute paced back and forth before he realized what needed to be done. Simple thought escaped him in his panic before he finally lifted his muzzle to the sky, a desperate cry to the stranger. He tried to be patient, but he was too panicked to give the other male time to come out and he took a few paces into the caves, a harsh bark escaping him as he demanded Thackery to come to him. But all he could do was pace and wait, a desperate whine escaping his throat as he tried to catch his breath. Picture and table credit to the wonderful Morgin <3
