Feeder Birds including House Sparrows

I have been reading with interest that some regulars this fall were finding their bird feeder populations to be lower this year. I have not experienced this at our farm in Tiny (either in numbers or species). Interestingly, we have experienced a large number of House Sparrows that shelter in a overgrown clematis through the winter and are regulars at the feeder. This began last year with numbers around 20 and this year the population has at least doubled. I have never had House Sparrows at a feeder and had read with interest the recent Project Feeder Watch article about declining urban numbers and increases in rural areas.
