I don't know how you carved your way into my heart

Pandorah
black arabian mare // no home
Splish splash, splish splash. Wading through chilly ocean waters was not the best idea during winter, but as the cold crept through my body I couldn't help to feel a rush of excitement and hope. Finally. The horrendously long and tiring journey was nearing its end. I had never wandered this far from my homelands. Well, not my homelands anymore. A combination of disgust and cold made me shudder. That chapter is behind me; us. My loyal brother agreed to journey with me to a new land. Without him, I'm not sure I would have made it this far.

Beads of salty water dripped from my body and my hair was plastered against me. The soft sand was such a relief after moons of traveling. The sweet smell of sea grass surrounded me as well as too many unique horse scents to count. I walked forward to the main clearing, occasionally stopping to grab a bite to eat. As many smells as there were, I didn't see a single equine shape around. Everyone retreated to their herds for the winter. There was a strong wind coming off the coast and it chilled me to the bone. I stand here for awhile, alone. My brother had left in search of an open territory. If he returns with good news, hopefully our new home will be away from the coast and much warmer. I never was fond of the winter; my black coat and thin body wasn't built for the harsh cold.

Or perhaps I will get lucky and someone will show up. In the very least, a stranger to talk to and bide the time. For now, I have to get out of this wind. My amber eyes spotted some brush that could be used as shelter several yards away. Picking up my feet, I jogged over in a hurry. It wasn't warm, but now the wind wouldn't freeze my wet coat. Please, somebody come keep me company. I pleaded in my head.

I don't know how you carved your way into my heart,
But I know that I'll regret what I did
