We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air.
On the rock restless seas.

He brightened upon hearing her say his name aloud for the first time. Even a small, lopsided grin cracked his whiskered maw and he bobbed his head once in cheerful acknowledgement. He closed his small, beady eyes as she reached forward to nudge him in a warm embrace again, reveling in the moment. It had been so long since someone he cared about touched him in such a way. As far as he could remember, Talya was the only one who loved him. Like this, anyway.

There was a warmth that radiated from his core and shot through his extremities at the mention of "home." The desert-like terrain in which they were born never felt like home to him. And he hoped silently that this wasn't where Tayla was still living. He couldn't smell the heat or the sands on her. Under the dampness of seawater, he caught hints of earth and dirt. Leaf litter. Pine. A forest? Luthien? The more she spoke, the more questions he had. Mamapapa? Hiding? This figure, this goddess didn't sound like the yellow mare who birthed them. And Talya seemed too happy to still be living under her care, or lack thereof. But he was worried about this Mamapapa. If the yellow mare had taught him anything during their short time together, it was to never trust a stranger outright. Strangers had to prove they were worth the investment. "Why hiding?" He asked.

Nevertheless, Tayla seemed happy and content to be among their company. That was encouraging enough for the small painted stallion to bob his head in agreement, and reach out to lip at his sister's shoulder with some excitement for what was to come. When she finally asked, when she finally invited him into her fold, he was beaming from ear-to-ear. "Let's go."
