I had taken some time to simply watch it all happen. Aster and Halcyon leave with their puppies, members shuffle about as they tried to find their home with the change of Alphaship. I had stayed. I promised my mother, my grandmother, that I would see that this land was a haven for those that needed it. Though, Aster and Halcyon I think had failed… should I have been surprised? They didn’t want to be controlled, perhaps my grandmother did something no one else ever could or would, no cannibals would come here seeking haven anymore… And could I blame them? It was an unsafe world for them, just as it was for the wolves they preyed upon and I didn’t see this alpha allowing ‘that sort’ in anytime soon.
He was a nobel wolf from what I could tell from a distance. Again… I had taken time to see what he was like, what he was doing with himself and his time. Thus far he had no allies, but I would change that. I knew Taviora would come easily to his side and Diveen too probably. After all I was uncertain. Aster I think would go back to her home where she really belonged, they would likely prove an ally too. Glorall and Spirane were always interesting and I was never sure. Sprirane seemed to just stay within themselves anymore. Years and years now before even the old queen had fallen letting her daughter rise. They sent no diplomats it felt anymore…. Content in their natural fortress they had.
Today though was different. I was no longer waiting around, watching and seeing who stayed and went. By now, almost a whole winter passing I think the pack had stabilized and found its feet. Many wolves, more than I had thought, stayed, and even some under Arturio’s banner had simply come. It seemed he was a popular wolf even before he came here. Good, a charismatic alpha it seemed who made a name for himself without holding the flag of an alpha.
My long legs carried me over the snowy patches and wet grounds. This season had been mild, and the prey continued its desolate trend. I myself was a bit more lean than normal, but I was making it… Surely soon we would have to celebrate our new pack, bring the moral back up. The prey would hopefully improve in Spring, but right now I have eyes only for the white wolf that was my new King and Alpha.
”Greetings, Arturio.” I say dipping my head in a bow. ”Do you have time to speak with me today? I have taken the liberty of watching you work, the wolves that have come and go, and I think it’s time I met with you a little more formally.” I say letting my gaze wander over the lands that were my home. Even now it looked like rain was coming once more, but I paid it no mind for the second, I wanted to get to know my new King and wanted to do what I could to support him in protecting and growing our home. Just like my mother and grandmother I wasn’t one with no ambition.
