Sharp Shinned Hawk

Yesterday a sharp shinned hawk killed and ate a mourning dove while it had been feeding at my backyard feeder.

Curious thing was that several chickadees and a downy woodpecker continued to use the feeder while the hawk was dining just a few feet below them. I suppose the bitter cold pushed the small birds to continue eating in spite of the obvious danger.
