Re(6): forgot something

Manchester,
You are spouting revisionism. Just because LBJ signed the 1964 Civil Rights Act, doesn't mean he is responsible for it. LBJ even admitted that Everett Dirksen of Illinois, the Republican Senate Minority Leader, was the person most responsible for its passage. A majority of Senate Democrats voted it down. A majority of Senate Republicans voted for it. Al Gore's daddy voted it down. Was Al Gore Jr. a Republican? No. This was 100 years after Lincoln's time, and hardly ancient history.

This theory that the southern racist Democrats all became Republicans is just utter bullshit. The Democrats can't stand to be reminded of their party's racist history. And the DNC is still the party of racial discrimination. In the past that discrimination was tied to reduced rights, now it is special privilege. The goal should be racial blindness.

Also LBJ's prime reason for passing the 1964 Civil Rights bill was just craven partisanship. He said "I'll have those niggers voting Democratic for 200 years."

And if your liberal history teacher was preaching this bunk, it would be better to be stoned in class than to absorb the propaganda.
