Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Take Off Your Mask, The World Will See

Masque sang into the world without a care to who heard or what was around her. There was simply joy and pleasure at being able to raise her voice at all! When another joined her in harmony, she could feel her soul lift with their music, her tail wagging in joy behind her. A stranger’s voice intermingling with her own was how the magic of the world worked, sharing the power of life between them, even briefly. Her voice faded out and Masque called again, hoping to find this mysterious friend again. When no notes hit the heavens, she looked a little crestfallen, instead shifting to simply let herself have enjoyed the moment of distant friendship.
Instead of a call though, a different mixture of sounds lit her up again. Paws against earth and water drummed, matching the beat of her heart. A shedding white wolf rushed into her view, covered in mud and water. Instantly, Masque brightened, her tongue rolling from her mouth. She watched the other pull herself from the water and she scrambled down the side of the waterfall, eager to meet with this new soul! The moment she touched the ground, she landed in an instant play bow. Bouncing back and forth, she was too excited to sit still and wait to see what the white would do.
“Roll in it?” She laughed as Alara moved back into the river. “I have all but lived in it!” Racing after the other, she pounced and bound in the shallows of the river bed. Running this way and that, her movements were erratic and random. No rhyme or reason beyond the rhythm of play. Masque did, in fact, full body roll through the water, all four paws kicking up into the sky before she got to her feet again, and jumped body slamming into the deeper waters.
Swimming back to the shore, she raced up and down, skidding to a pebbly stop in front of Alara. “Have you chased the lights on top of the water? They say if you follow them far enough they lead you to different worlds!”
