He knew Belhara wasn't any happier about the new male taking over Iromar than he was. Pine may not have been the fearless strong leader most of his kind would look for, but she had potential and she accepted his nature. She even invited more of his kind and pretty much gave him free rein in getting other predators to Iromar. She gave him purpose. He knew Iromar meant a lot to Belhara but he'd uprooted from Asteraia at a young age so he had no doubt that Belhara could do the same. She was strong just like him. She would survive it and be stronger for it. As they stopped to look over the landscape from the free side of the Asteraia border lines, he could see the instant distaste in Belhara's gaze. She didn't like how open it was. It certainly didn't have the mystery of Iromar's fog or the danger of the swamp lands but he knew firsthand that an open field could breed a new kind of danger too.
Then she looked up at the sky and he smirked, nudging her shoulder softly and placing a light possessive nip where her neck met her shoulder. He knew how she liked to stare up at the stars and listen to them "speak." She rubbed along his side and a growl of pleasure rumbled in his chest, his fangs scraping along her neck and back as she walked past. She didn't sound all that pleased when she finally spoke, saying she saw good and bad before teasing him about climbing. He chuckled. "I learned to climb here. The trees on the outskirts closest to the borders work just fine for climbing. I liked to ambush tresspassers and show them the error of their ways. It was fun." He smirked, his eyes twinkling with mischief. His eyes snapped over the borders though when he heard someone coming. His fur bristled and he stepped protectively against Belhara. She was his and no one would touch her.
He took in the male's smell and noted that it matched the borders. The alpha then. Good, he had heard him. His lips tugged into a satisfied smirk as his ears pricked toward the wolf coming toward them. He seemed friendly enough, introducing himself as Arturio. He was blunt, telling them it wasn't their former home but it was a place to stay. Cuirass nodded his head and took a step toward him, his gaze more intense. "We seek sanctuary for now. I used to call these fields home so it's not so bad for me." His gaze swept to Belhara knowingly, his smirk tugging wider. "I'm Cuirass. This is Belhara, my mate." The possession in his voice was evident. Everything in his tone said "mine." He eyed Arturio before nudging his head back over the borders. "But I don't intend to be a silent refugee. Do you have any plans to take out the new head of the swamp? I want in. That little prick stole my home." His eyes burned with the need to do something. He couldn't just stand idly by. He needed purpose.
