VOTE RESULTS & ACTIVITY CHECK

Hi everyone! I have a couple things to announce. Firstly, there is currently an activity check happening, so be sure you scuttle over to the activity page and reply before it closes in a week's time.

Secondly, thank you to those who responded to the vote! Though we would have liked to hear from all of you, we've now had enough feedback now to make a decision that we hope the majority of you will be happy with. Here is the plan:

1) The steal board will be closed and removed from the site (it will not be deleted, however, in case you would like to visit it or we decide to bring it back in the future).

2) Those who would like to steal should now play it out as a raid. All the usual rules regarding raids will apply.

3) With regards to characters attempting to steal for their own freedom, we will introduce a new set of rules allowing this to be played out in-character in a similar way to raids. This will be as follows:

a) The character must post a new thread either on their home board or elsewhere with the word ESCAPE somewhere in their subject line. This must not be anonymous.

b) This character's herd leader, or whomever is keeping them captive, must respond to this post within 3 days in order to block it.

c) Other horses may join the thread, but they may not join the escape attempt (they must post their own thread for that) or aid the escaping horse in any way. They may, however, try to convince the escaping horse to stay, even if the escape attempt has already been judged valid.

d) Only mature characters may attempt to escape. However, foals may join escaping mothers.

e) Characters may only attempt an escape once per season. Also, if they were recently won in a raid or battle, they must first wait one season before attempting to escape (see the captivity clause under 'battling' on the Rules page for more info).

f) Post comings are not allowed for any character involved in an escape thread until after the escape has been judged valid or invalid.

g) There is a word minimum of 200 words per post for the captor and captive in an escape thread. If the escaping horse fails to meet this minimum, their escape attempt is invalid; similarly, if their captor's response is under 200 words, they may still successfully escape.

h) Escape attempts from characters whose players are away are not allowed.

We hope this rule change makes sense and are open to any questions you may have. We know a couple of you mentioned liking the idea of anonymity, but given anonymous steals were so rarely successful (the last one was in 2013), we think it makes sense to try something new. For various reasons it would also be very difficult to make in-character escapes anonymous, which is why we've decided to allow escape attempts to be posted anywhere rather than simply on the character's home board - it makes things more difficult for their captor by forcing them to be attentive and keep an eye on the boards. We figure that, in terms of how to actually roleplay them, escapes posted on a character's home board may be treated as if they are in the process of escaping, and escapes posted elsewhere may be treated as if they have already left but may still be brought back. Though they will be treated the same rule-wise, these two different options will allow for a greater variety of plots.

Please bear with us while the necessary updates to accommodate this change are completed, and let us know if there are any potential loopholes you are concerned about; as with every other rule, we will make tweaks as needed to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

We hope you enjoy this new feature!
