The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Fear Makes People Do Terrible Things

_________________________________________________________________________

Lanky stilts carried the male through the trees towards unknown territory. He was nervous for the encounter to come, but he didn’t want that to stop him from trying to be better at being a pack wolf. He was shy, always had been, but he knew he had to work on it to get better. Just like any other training session he may have done with his mentor, Halina, all those months ago when he had been a small pup. In the beginning his muscles had protested the intense work, but with the proper time and effort he had turned himself into a warrior. By forcing himself to go out and interact with others, as he was doing now by heading to another pack, he would get better at social interactions. Lupin had already made steps in the right direction when he interacted with his packmate Anastasia. The femme had been the boy’s first crush, feelings he had not yet encountered. He had felt an instant connection with the femme, and opened up to her and talked honestly with her. It had been the first time he had done anything like that. Even when he had been training under Halina, a wolf that he trusted whole heartedly, he had not spoken in such a personal way as he had with Anastasia.

And so when Milo, the alphess of the pack that Lupin had decided to call home, had asked for volunteers to travel to other packs and see how they were doing and adjusting to all the changes in the lands, he had stepped forward. Normally the brute would have remained in the background, not speaking up but trying to blend in with the shadows. But if he wanted to be a better pack member he had to step forward for things like this. And so the scarred male found himself leaving home and heading to a foreign territory. Halina had not left him entirely in the dark about these type of things though. He knew the basics. Even though he did not mean the other pack any harm he still was not allowed into the pack lands, not without permission anyways. This may be somewhat new to him, but he was not stupid. He would not just wander into another pack and break basic laws.

When Lupin came to the pack borders of Graes Waegholm he lifted his muzzle to the sky, calling to the alpha and to any other pack members within. He stood awkwardly, shifting from paw to paw as he waited before finally sitting down. He did not have to wait long though before he saw the form of another varg approaching. A large brute was approaching, and he could tell from his position and body language that he was not the alpha, but he was a ranked wolf. Most likely highly ranked from the way that he held himself. . "Greetings, young stranger. What brings you to call out to the Graes pack? I am Harlow, the pack's Beta.” Lupin nodded his head respectfully to the ranked male. ”Hello, Harlow. It is nice to meet you. My name is Lupin and I come from Wudubearo. I was sent on behalf of Milo, our alphess, to see what sort of changes you have experienced in the forest. And to talk to Siku about the possibilities of an alliance.” He paused for a moment, unsure of what was okay to ask and what would seen as intrusive. ”I take it the pack has faired well after everything that happened then?” He was not asking to pry for weaknesses about the pack, and he could only hope that the Beta did not interpret it in that way.
