Only You Are the Life Among the Dead

_________________________________________________________________________

The female was glad that she had decided to come to this pack on Dierne Hrof’s behalf. If she had gone to a different pack then she may not have found out about vampires. She was not sure what type of wolves lived in the other packs, maybe they would have vampires or tempest or rainbows too. But she was glad that she met Diosa. The teen still did not seem that different than any other wolf she had met, at least not yet. So Khaleesi had no reason to judge the other femme based on the type of being she was. There was no need to feel unsafe around her just because of rumors, and as they talked more Khaleesi felt like there was a chance that they could be friends. She didn’t need to listen to stereotypes or anything like that when there was no evidence to back it up. She was too smart for that anyways. Being a healer made her look at the world differently. She trusted evidence she saw in front of her, and she did not just blindly believe what she was told. Their conversation continued naturally, the only time that Khaleesi hesitated was when she wasn’t sure what was okay to say about her home pack and what wasn’t. She was more trusting than most, and she didn’t want to overshare anything. But she thought it would better to be honest as Diosa had been honest with her.

“Not all of my family is related or share a biological mother and father. Mother likes to rescue stray pups that she wonders upon or who wander into Caidir. If she didn’t, they would probably fall prey to the alligators or the bogs… this place isn’t exactly the safest. I love it here though, there is lush growth all around, and during most of the year.” Khaleesi knew well enough that blood didn’t make family, it was the bond that made family. She didn’t know any of her biological family, but that hadn’t changed her relationship with her mother or her brother, even if both had moved out of the pack. With her last words though, Khaleesi’s green orbs explored the lands around her. It was true how lush the lands were. Even if it was more swamp like in some areas than she had seen before, she could only imagine what sort of herbs and plants made home here, and she wondered if there was anything knew in these lands that she had not yet encountered. ”Yes, the lands here are very different from my own pack. But I’ve always liked to be where it was green and full of life.” The femme went on to speak more about her pack, and what life there was like. She noticed the…interesting reaction that Diosa had as she spoke. Something seemed to be wrong, a shiver running through her whole body. What was happening to the teen? Was she going to have some sort of seizure or something? Concern crossed Khaleesi’s features before Diosa spoke up once more.

It seemed that the teen wasn’t sure what had happened to either, which concerned Khaleesi more but it didn’t seem to bother the vampire. So maybe there was nothing to worry about? Or was there? But what she said next surprised her. Diosa wanted to be a healer? Khaleesi was always willing to train others, no matter who wanted to learn. ”Um, yes if you’re sure you’re okay?” She paused for a moment before addressing the real question that Diosa had asked, this time with a smile on her kissers. ”But yes I would love to help! My mother began training me with healing when I was around your age.” The femme didn’t seem excited about the thought of healing though, but rather it made her sad. As Diosa talked more, and let more of her emotion show, Khaleesi began to put the pieces together. She must know the rumors about her kind, and clearly she was not like the rumors. She couldn’t imagine how hard it would be to live a life that was so different than what others thought about you, especially when those things others thought could be so negative. If Diosa wanted to show that she was different, becoming a healer was possibly one way to do that. Healers were often seen as good, always wanting to help others. The opposite of what one thought about vampires. When she saw that Diosa began to cry, Khaleesi stepped over the border, hoping she was not going to far, and reaching out to touch the femme, wanting to offer her comfort. Her snow white paw reached out to the other darker femme’s paw, her green gaze one looking sympathetically to the femme. ”Diosa, there’s nothing wrong with you. If you want to show you are a different than what others think, I would be more than happy to help.” She gave her a warm smile, hoping that she would be okay with her approach.
