At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Test My Will, Test My Heart

The silvery wolf was surprised to see how many rainbows there were when she came upon the group that had gathered. So far she had only met three, Fallon, Chimera and Scamander. She gave the young male a warm smile when she saw him, but didn’t recognize any of the others that were there. But she learned who they were, and one in particular was especially important to her, Zawyne. Adara once more felt that instant tugging bond with the colorful femme, just as she had with Fallon and Chimera. The sense that she needed to look after and protect her, to keep her safe and as happy as possible. But there were still so many others, Losa, Fairuz, ad Vera. Was this all of them? Or were there still more that had not yet found the two teen sisters? She was not sure, but she was sure that Losa and Zawyne knew of all the rainbows that had come to Blossom. Adara was not the only Tempest that had come either, Aindreas was there as well, and she was glad to see that her brother was out with the rainbows as well. But then there was also a nonmagical varg, Archangel, that was with Vera. It was a unique group that had gathered to the princess’s call it seemed.

While Adara was getting to know some of the new wolves, she noticed that Scamander went off on his own. She knew that her nephew was the young male’s Oferweder, but he was not here right now so she decided to go after the brute and make sure he was okay. The pair were on their own for a little while when Scamander suddenly ran off. The femme sighed, decided to let him go. She didn’t want to make things worse by following him. The tempest did not yet know what was going on, not having the connection with all of the Arcus Irae as they all did with each other. But she suddenly felt nothing but sorrow and fear, something was wrong. She knew at once that it was Zawyne, and she already was running through the trees before she was even aware that she was doing so. Why had she left the other femme? She should have stayed and let Vladimir go find Scamander. And now the one she was supposed to protect was in trouble.

As the femme ran through the trees, panic began to set in. What had happened to Zawyne and what if she got there too late? The thought of losing her was unthinkable, and so she just pushed forward as fast as she could. When she finally arrived to where Zawyne and the others were, she was shocked at what she had found. Her eyes caught site of Archangel, and the broken form of Vera on his back. What had happened here? There was blood on the large male, but she saw the way that he had been around rainbow. Adara knew that there was no way that he could have harmed her. Her bright blue orbs looked around, trying to piece together what had happened, and then she heard him speak. Murder. Her eyes widened in shock. How could anything have come to harm such a sweet and innocent being? She focused in on Zawyne who was at her sister Losa’s side, Scamander huddled up under her, all clearly upset and shaken up. Her nephew, Vladimir was there as well, standing protectively in front of all the rainbows. The tempest quickly went to the three rainbows, speaking to Vladimir to try and help him calm down. She knew that Archangel was no threat, but he did not know that yet. <”Vladimir, it’s okay.” Her own bright blue orbs showed the concern and uncertainty she felt, but that they were safe around this other wolf at least. Adara longed to touch out and comfort them, especially Zawyne. But she knew she could not. That was the hardest part for Adara, to not be able to offer any physical comfort to those that were clearly in need of it.

Adara stepped to be by Zawyne’s side, as close as she could be without their pelts actually touching, crouching down to the teen’s level. ”Zawyne, I am so sorry.” Her own bright blue orbs showed how sad she was, and how much she wanted to help, but didn’t know how. But then something else happened, a new deeper harsher pain. She didn’t think it was possible to feel worse than when she felt Zawyne’s terror and pain, but this…this was so much worse. The strongest fear and pain swept through her entire being, and Adara shuddered under it. She closed her eyes for a moment, and she felt as if she could almost see through another’s eyes. Fallon was in immediate danger. The other rainbow was filled with nothing but pure terror, and Adara stood tall, her form frantically looking to and fro. What was she supposed to do? She was about to bolt, but then a terrible pain wracked her whole body, and she almost collapsed under it. She was dead. Fallon was dead. Fresh tears leaked from her bright blue orbs. How could she have let this happen? She had promised to protect the teen, and she had let everything fall apart. It was unimaginable emotional pain that was so intense it was physical. Adara felt like she was going to be sick. Instincts of what to do tore her left and right. Part of her needed to run to Fallon, to see what happened and to destroy whoever it was that put that terror and pain within the young femme. But the other side of her felt Zawyne, who was still alive and by her side. All of the rainbows felt Fallon’s death as well, and the pain that Zawyne felt was new and freshly felt within Adara. Her gaze turned to Zawyne, who had gotten to her paws and was saying something to Archangel about how they needed to be protected. The tempest barely registered the words, trying to come to terms with the grief that overcame her. She could leave, could leave Zawyne and the others with Vladimir and Archangel. But there was no way for her to help Fallon now…she was dead…Adara had failed. And she would not fail Zawyne or Ailsa. They were alive and she would not let anything happen to them.

Forcing herself to get under control and deal with the grief later when Zawyne was safe, she focused back in at the task at hand. When Vladimir asked Scamander what happened, Adara cringed at hearing the words out loud. Surely this couldn’t be real? Vladimir went on to tell them all that they would be welcome in Dierne Hrof, and she agreed that it would be the safest place for them. Especially if the vampires did come after them. Aindreas was also in Dierne Hrof plus all of the wolves that lived there. They could all work together to protect the vulnerable rainbows. Finally she forced herself to speak, her vocals coming out raspy at first. ”Even with all three of us we may not be enough depending on what sort of army the vampires have formed. Vladimir is right, we should all go to Dierne Hrof. There are more numbers there to help protect everyone.” She paused for a moment, looking to Zawyne to see if she was comfortable with that, hoping that she was. Adara knew it was the best option, and she hoped that the younger femme would see it that way. ”Once everyone is safe I can go look…look for Fallon. And bring her back for all of us. She can be with Vera.” Forcing the words out about Fallon was more difficult than she anticipated, and tears welled up in her eyes once more as she spoke. But she focused back in on Zawyne, her and Ailsa would be her priority now. She couldn’t let another one down as she had let down Fallon.
