News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Days had passed since she’d rather abruptly met her imprint. Days had passed and then weeks. Weeks had turned into months and Aine had not seen or heard from the boy since. She wasn’t as free to go searching for him as others might have been either. At first she thought that maybe he’d just been busy or as surprised as she had been to find one another so unexpectedly. Maybe he had just needed time to come to terms with being irrevocably linked to another wolf. After about a week, however, doubt had begun to plague her.

She knew that she’d not revealed too much of her condition, having been standing rather still, but maybe he’d noticed the way she tended to sway or her head would bob as her body tried to compensate for her faulty sense of balance. Had he sensed in her all her faults even as she’d sensed in him the safety and security of home? It was a hard thing to swallow, the notion that the one wolf in the whole world that was meant to be for her might not want anything to do with her.

With no skill to learn or task to focus on, Aine did her best to distract herself by helping where she could. She did everything she could to push those intense blue eyes and that harsh, toneless growl from her mind. She’d find a wolf to follow around and attempt to help. She was too unsteady to be a warrior and running was not something she particularly excelled at so hunting was out of the question. Healing was marginally promising but Aine feared that she might have one of her dizzy spells or wonky leg episodes when someone needed her the most so shied away. Even watching pups proved difficult and a bit humiliating as they didn’t know any better not to tease or laugh at her when she lost control of her legs or ran into something because her eyes betrayed her.

Even as busy as she’d tried to keep herself, those piercing eyes lingered in the back of her mind and came forth in the evening when she’d run out of ways to keep him at bay. She didn’t even know his name, her mysterious imprint. All she knew of him was that he’d asked her name and when it had been given, he’d growled and stormed off. Carefully picking her way up to a low, flat rise on the mountain, Aine plopped down and stared off into the distance with a heavy sigh. Would she ever see him again? Her angry-eyed imprint? She wanted to see him again, at least know his name. With Janus distancing himself from Spirane after they’d discovered their true origins, Aine found herself torn in three directions.

Spirane was the only home she knew. Janus was more important to her than anyone. Then there was him.

Her heart felt burdened and again thoughts of inadequacy plagued her when a discordant howl rose beneath her and she felt a forceful tug within her chest. Pale eyes widened as her ears perked at the sound. She’d never heard it before but she knew instinctively that it belonged to a big, growly boy with eyes of blue fire. Before she realized what she was doing, she’d risen and was picking her way down the trail at a pace far faster than was probably safe. ”He came!” The words came out as an almost inaudible whisper.

Once she reached level ground, she was spurred on by the urgency of the tugging she began to jog. For several yards she was fine, then she would miss a step here or there, stumbling and catching herself. Aine barely managed to rein herself in as her legs betrayed her. Letting out a frustrated growl, she stumbled sideways a few steps before she forced herself to stop, legs shaking. With that tugging still urging her on, she took very deliberate and awkwardly exaggerated steps, giving her brain and body the time it needed to sync again.

After a time she finally spotted him, he was several yards away. Her tail, short and fluffy, twitched behind her as she concentrated even harder on trying to walk even remotely like a normal wolf. Her excitement at seeing her imprint again, learning something about him, made it difficult to concentrate on walking and her steps sped up a bit, leaving her stumbling toward him. Though he appeared several feet away still, she realized suddenly that her eyes had been playing tricks on her again when she walked nose first into the wolf and pulled back abruptly, sneezing at the strong smell of him.

”Sorry…” Not exactly the greatest second impression, her voice was soft as she peered up at him, blinking rapidly, trying to get her eyes to focus properly as she swayed in place, her legs trembling now and then.
