The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

There was a pause at one point when he started barking too and for a moment, he thought the other voice had decided to stop barking. Maybe they didn't want someone else doing the same thing? Maybe they were hoping to be alone in here? Triton's tail sagged for a minute, thinking about giving the whole thing up and going back home. If going with the flow only made others upset then maybe it wasn't a good thing, after all and Rurik needed to know. But before he could do such a thing, the barks came back to him, more determined than ever. It was like whoever they were, they wanted him to join in! He could even hear the joy in the voice and it gave him a cold chill of excitement. His tail started wagging up a storm as he barked again, giving into his own joy as he continued further into the grotto.

Then he rounded a corner and ran right into someone, both of them stumbling back though he heard what sounded like a body impacting with the hard floor of the grotto. His ears pushed back in shame as his eyes softened, even though he could barely make out the other wolf. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to knock you down, honest." He apologized as genuinely as he could, his tail still thumping the wall beside him as he tried to blink and adjust his eyes. He waited to see if she would forgive him or not but then he jumped as a nose suddenly pressed into his chest. He jerked back with a laugh. "That tickles!" He shook out his coat and then pricked his ears as she said something about going somewhere that it's lighter. He grinned, nodding before he reminded himself that she probably couldn't see him nodding. "Okay!" He answered instead.

When he could see the shadow of her body moving further away, he scowled for a minute, thinking she was leaving before he realized he was probably supposed to be following. He grinned. "Hey, wait up!" He called as he ran after her before remembering that he might knock her down again if he came at her like that. Slowing down to a fast walk, he gingerly reached out with his paws each time, his nose stuck forward like a hunting dog until he felt the light whisk of her tail hit him in the nose. It was enough to let him know she was there so he slowed down a little and continued walking, sticking his nose forward every once in a while to make sure she was still there and with every flick of her tail against his muzzle, he knew he didn't have to worry.

About that time her voice rang out asking if he was coming and in response, he nipped playfully at her tail. "Yep, I'm right here." He gave a goofy grin into the darkness as she told him he'd get lost here if he didn't come. He snorted. "I was just going with the flow. I'm sure I'd find my way out eventually if I just kept going." He shrugged it off and kept walking, still using her tail as a means to tell him if he was close.
