Hello Scott,
I don't understand your message. How can insurance premium money you spend be taxed? There is sales tax I know but I never paid tax on insurance premiums I paid. I know that our Social Security is taxed and that Medicare is deducted from SS. Medicare premiums are deductible on our federal income tax forms. You may be paying for medicare AND the city insurance. You can probably drop one or the other but you may not be able to sign up for medicare later on. I don't know if the city has a medicare supplement plan or if it is a full insurance plan. Friends I know go with one or the other. I don't have the city plan. I have full medicare and an advantage supplemental plan. Talk to someone.
