THE FOUNDERS OF THE LF WEB SITE THE LATE CAPT. JOE EASTWOOD BEM AND COLIN BOUTTY WERE BOTH FIERCELY ENTRENCHED IN THEIR INTENT AND ADAMANT IN THEIR BELIEF THAT THE LF WEB SITE SHOULD REMAIN AN INDEPENDENT ENTITY AND FREE FROM OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. IN FURTHERANCE OF THAT END ALL SUGGESTIONS THAT THE WEB SITE BE ALLIED TO OR INDEED INTEGRATED INTO THE FUSILIER ASSOCIATION OR ANY OTHER GROUPING WERE FIRMLY REJECTED. THE ETHOS OF INDEPENDENCE REMAINS THE SAME. :SMILIES (Emoticons)
Memorial Stone for Joe Eastwood
IP: 86.173.143.57

It has been proposed that a Memorial Stone for the late Capt (retd) Joe Eastwood BEM be laid in the Fylde Memorial Arboretum and Community Woodland, Bispham, Blackpool. The Memorial Stone would be laid alongside the existing Memorial Stone to Vivienne Eastwood and be dedicated during the annual Memorial Service held at the Arboretum during Armed Forces Week held in Blackpool in June each year. The approximate cost would be 140. Comment is invited in response to the suggestion that this cost be bourne by the LF Web Site Fund. Since the very start of the LF Web Site donations have been sought in order to maintain and further the aims of the LF Web Site. It is felt by the Web Site Team that it would be wholly appropriate for the Web Site Fund to pay for the intended Memorial Stone from existing funds held in the LF Web Site Fund. It is a fact that without Joe Eastwood and Colin Boutty the LF Web Site would not exist. However it is long standing Web Site policy that all expenditure from the Web Site Fund must be agreed by a quorum from the Team. Given that all monies held are from the generous donations made by those who view and visit the web site it is thought only right and proper that before any final decision on this expenditure is made opinions are sought from our supporters. It is correct to say that at least two offers to privately fund the Memorial Stone have been made.
The Web Site Team
