Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zeltzin held nothing ill against Eden in the slightest. To her, Eden was not a bad wolf by any means. Perhaps she didn’t know how he was truly, yet she did care for the wolf, the father of her youngest children all the same. It had been said that wolves could be together and not be entirely romantic, like imprints perhaps. Zeltzin was far from romantic with her own imprint after all, and really other than feeling if he was close or far sometimes she hadn’t really had contact with Anselm for some years it felt. He was out there though, and fine, perhaps it was wrong of her not to be close to him, but he was living his life, and she hers, bound but not chained and that was fine to her. Eden though, she wanted to know still and be close too in some ways, she wasn’t sure if she was willing to relinquish what she considered their friendship in its entirety. Never would she dream of using her position with Eden against him though. As he thought she wasn’t exactly capable of such things.

She smiles though at his reply, her tail giving a few short waves. Though she bumped her shoulder into his at his slight joke of behaving. ”When do you not?” She teases back, ”You been up to no good lately?” She was kidding, not knowing if he had or hadn’t been up to anything to begin with but really it was all in good nature. She smiled, open as a book to him really and all her true emotions showing with no hint of anything deceptive in her big mahogany-brown eyes. ”I’ll visit in spring for sure then, if that’s an invitation.” she finishes, noting to herself that she would have to keep careful watch this coming winter to see who and how many wolves would be expecting the coming season so that she might be able to spend a little more time with him and Asriel too perhaps.

She was apprehensive perhaps, but joining Eden never was something that crossed her mind. She was perhaps closest to it when her children were born, thriving and moving about as they had been. Zeltzin reconsidered though after Moteuh’s death though and Eden’s… anger at the situation perhaps. They never got their answers they wanted, it made things she thought a bit more awkward and strained. She grew distant in her loss, it was probably her fault more than anything that they had become what they were, not that she regretted it. Still living with him was something she didn’t think she could do, and perhaps she never would.

Still she did wonder what had happened that made the Queen of Asteraia so upset at him. Eden was... passive, or so Zeltzin always thought, he didn’t really start fights but she could see him as the type that would certainly finish them. In her eyes at least. He was a good wolf, though she knew he wasn’t incapable of doing wrong, she never thought anything she had heard he had done as ‘bad’ in her books. So she listened intently as he spoke of Aster, her youth, how she lost her aunt, and disappeared. Zeltzin frowned deeply. It was always sad to lose family. Her heart wanted so bad to call out to Midna and Scarlett her eldest daughters, and Ilias too, but by no fault of Taviora’s was it that they were gone, maybe even… dead… ”That’s not fair. You couldn’t control where she went. If you or Zelda had warriors stalking everyone who left your pack for a walk you would never be able to protect your home. Things… happen… even if they are unfair. The most she or you could do is try to track down who did it.” She said though a thought hit her, she let him finish, speaking about the previous alpha of Glorall, how he was Aster’s grandfather apparently.

That was news to her, but it was hard to say anymore who was related to who, and what bonds one had. It felt like nearly everyone anymore had a relative that was an Protector of a pack at some point or another. If the previous alpha was making things difficult after all these years of silence it seemed… underhanded almost… he was holding a grudge for so long and not letting it go. Yes, Eden had challenged him, but he had won fairly and he never came back to try to take his home back from Eden. So clearly he felt he couldn’t do better or didn’t wish to take lead of the land again. Zeltzin knew her family if taken from Taviora would fight to gain the forest back if taken by someone they felt would do Moladion harm or the old members, Zelda herself would die for the land and Zeltzin felt she would as well. She shook her head hoping that it wasn’t the case though. There was a thought at the back of her mind though, one that caused her face to fall further than it had been.

”Did you blame Zelda, Taviora for Moteuh going out?””She asked quietly afraid to meet his eyes for a moment wondering if maybe he felt the same way. It was her fault if any, but Aranck had been the one to do it as well… They hadn’t really talked about it since she told him after all, she wondered how he felt, if anything still regarding the situation. She did worry sometime, did he hate her for it?

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
