He sat pensively at the clearing's center, eyes trained upon the horizon. Typically he did not encounter others roaming the pack lands at this hour, and his relaxed morning state of mind was why his little stalker had gone unnoticed as he'd made his way to the spot where he now sat. But in stillness, he was more aware of his surroundings. White backed ears flicked to and fro slowly, catching the sounds of birds as they twittered their first songs of the day. They heralded the arrival of the sun with such pristine voices, which Viserion admired. Amongst these usual noises, however, something was different. Along the ground, the grasses whispered their parting as a small animal moved closer and closer to him.
Nothing about the white fringed golden male's demeanor changed. His gaze remained upon the shifting changes in color on the horizon. But his mind was quickly at work, ears listening carefully to come to the conclusion that these were the paw steps of a puppy, not some squirrel, and nostrils flaring just slightly wider to catch the scent of whomever crept steadily closer. So little did his adjust the alignment of his head to the side that he was sure the youngster wouldn't notice, but it allowed him to see the outline of the small grey girl as her hindquarters protruded into the air. Still, he remained as he was, feigning obliviousness to her presence.
When her cry of attack pierced the morning air, birds scattered from the perches in the nearby trees, and Viserion gasped, turning towards her as she flung her body at him. She collided with his chest and he promptly fell backwards, howling out dramatically, but careful to keep his voice low enough to as not to worry anyone who might have a den nearby. Laying on his back with all four paws in the air, Thistle likely somewhere around his chest or belly, he lifted his head to look for her. His white back ears pricked forward and he grinned. "I've been struck! What young Mystery has foiled me this morning?" Well, there was no time like the present to start practicing for his upcoming roll as Uncle, right?
