The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

He felt better when she said that he didn't have to apologize. He nodded before remembering that she couldn't see it. He ducked his head sheepishly, glad that she couldn't see that either. "True." He admitted as he followed behind her. She seemed rather concerned about him making it out of the grotto, saying that her mom said you could get lost forever. He snorted. "That's impossible. You'd have to make your way out eventually. Otherwise you'd like..die or something." He was too young and innocent yet to see the darkness of the world so the idea of someone dying here just seemed impossible to him. Her mom had to be joking, right? He glanced up when he saw the beginnings of light ahead and he grinned, his tail wagging harder as he thought of seeing the sun again. Why did it already feel like he'd been in the darkness for ages? Maybe he was taking her words to heart a little too much. He swallowed and moved a little faster.

Right up until she suddenly bounded ahead then turned back to him with a question of his name. She gave hers as Dandelion and he tilted his head. "Like the flower? I'm Triton." He blinked, trying to make her out in the dim lighting but at least he could make out her silhouette now. She didn't give him much time to take her in though before she turned on her heels and was bounding off further down the grotto toward the light. He followed at a quicker pace, eager to get out, but then she stopped right before the exit and turned back to him. He was about to ask what she was waiting for but then she giggled and ran right past him, shouting for him to catch her. He parted his lips, unsure what he was going to say before he turned to watch her disappear into the darkness. What was she doing? It was dark in here and he didn't like running into walls.

He scowled and kicked the dirt at his paws. "Girls..." He murmured to himself before he sighed and rolled his eyes. "Go with the flow, right? Here goes nothing, Rurik." He mumbled right before he tore off after her into the passages. "Ready or not, here I come!" He called out for her as he tried to feel his way down the caves, brushing one side of his body across the rocks gently as he made his way deeper into the darkness. He didn't like this at all but he was supposed to just take whatever life throws at him, right? So he would soldier on and accept it.
