Changing how you think/react can have a massive impact on overall happiness. I used to freak out about everything (even when smoking weed every night), but was able to work around being a basket case with lots and lots of self-coaching shit. That, and 2000mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine plus 5000iu vitamin D3 taken every morning have done a lot to help as well.

It does sound simple, but it's true - you do have the choice to feel however you do, just that most people never convince themselves that they're actually the ones in charge of their emotions and opt to let their mood swings batter them around like a boat in stormy waters. It can take years to figure out how to not let your mind get the best of you, but it's worth the work. After all, most of us spend our lives trying to master full control of our bodies, why neglect the mental aspect?
