The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Aine chose not to comment when he stubbornly stated that he could come to her. They both knew that he wouldn’t so that left it up to her to make sure that they remained a family. Some days she was frustrated that he refused to stay with her but she understood. The memories had come back to him swifter and with avengence. Her own memories were slow and sporadic if they came at all but it was always disconcerting and confusing as they would juxtapose themselves over what she thought she knew making it difficult to decipher. It had to be hard for him, painful even which was why she tried not to be too much of a brat about him staying away.

”It does matter, Janus. I wish I could stay here with you, but I have to at least try…”to be useful. She owed Spirane and their adoptive family for taking them in. Especially because she couldn’t have been an easy pup to raise. Certainly she’d been weak and unsteady and prone to upset stomach and injury. As difficult as her life had been, she was grateful. She’d been kept with Janus and given a chance at life when it might have just been easier to let her slip away.

But now, with an imprint she couldn’t fathom, a brother in turmoil, and her own struggles to be a productive member of the pack, she found that she was questioning herself more and more. There was a tenseness about Janus that made her wonder if maybe she shouldn’t just stay here. He shouldn’t be alone when he was like this. He might have declared himself her eternal guardian but that didn’t mean he didn’t need looking out for now and then.

Once she was on her feet and facing him once more she frowned. His smile didn’t reach his eyes. ”They’re good. Remi came back from her wandering. I’m sure she’d like to see you.” Trying to figure out what exactly was troubling her brother, Aine moved forward with careful and deliberate steps until she was nearly nose to nose with him. ”How are you really, brother?”
