THE FOUNDERS OF THE LF WEB SITE THE LATE CAPT. JOE EASTWOOD BEM AND COLIN BOUTTY WERE BOTH FIERCELY ENTRENCHED IN THEIR INTENT AND ADAMANT IN THEIR BELIEF THAT THE LF WEB SITE SHOULD REMAIN AN INDEPENDENT ENTITY AND FREE FROM OUTSIDE INFLUENCE. IN FURTHERANCE OF THAT END ALL SUGGESTIONS THAT THE WEB SITE BE ALLIED TO OR INDEED INTEGRATED INTO THE FUSILIER ASSOCIATION OR ANY OTHER GROUPING WERE FIRMLY REJECTED. THE ETHOS OF INDEPENDENCE REMAINS THE SAME. :SMILIES (Emoticons)

I remember all of those guards and was on most of them.....C in C guard we had to change our uniform after our first Stag into clean starched uniform for the next one.
Tel el Kabir was another I was on (And promoted to Guard Commander) Our meals (such as they were, are brought to us at the guardroom. I remember the Orderly Officer doing his rounds and asked me to show him the paperwork re the guard.
Someone had put Kipper bones on top of them and the officer wasn't too pleased.

I also remember being on parade and inspected by the C in C who asked me did I know there was a Field Marshall,s Baton in my pack. I told him I didn't know and I didn't put it there....I got a smile off him anyway.......

Another guard which I thought ridiculous involved 3 men and a pup tent. We were dropped off at intervals along an oil pipeline. 2 inside asleep and one on Stag for 2 hours on and 4 off. It must have worked because no one blew up the pipeline.
Happy days........Bill Duffy
